Elsie McSelfie is considering extending the rules for vaccination passports in Scotland. A decision is expected next week.

Does she have any proof the actual vaccination passport has made any difference in the first instance before pushing it out further or are they going down the Wales route of just doing it anyway.

Anyone see Mark Drakeford at the Diwali party just after he forced passports for cinemas.

Please come forward and get your jabs that doesnt actually stop you getting it or transmitting it. And then be prepared to get another jab cos we think you need another. It's farcical and I've had two jabs. Better not mention anything about the pharma companies though cos that makes you a conspiracy theorist or summat.

All the countries who have rolled out vaccine passports keeping their numbers low and stable are surely all the proof we need?

But, for the vast majority of people, it does stop you getting hospitalised or dying, which is obviously really important. The numbers of dead would be (even more) horrendous without the vaccines.

And the vaccines do reduce contraction and transmission for several months, before the effect starts to wane. So, even when case numbers are high they are still lower than they would be if fewer people were jabbed.

Why is it farcical? Having a simple jab every six months or so seems a very small inconvenience compared to catching or transmitting Covid. I'm baffled why anyone thinks it's such a big deal.

I don't believe a single thing they say. I suppose I'm a bit of a hypocrite becuase I've had both jabs and I'm not in the sureal camp of thinking I've been injected with microchips by Bill Gates. Members of my family have had jabs and also had covid yet have been hit far harder than other members who caught it without the jabs.

The transmission data, especially for delta, is very up in the air at the moment. Studies seem to be saying different things and none of them seem to be getting any better than the one before.

The last bit wouldn't be a big deal if people's lives weren't being affected by it in ways such as travel, work and - heaven forbid - what's going on in Austria.

I've had two jabs, do I become one of the "unvaccinated" if I don't have a third. If I have a third do I become "unvaccinated" if I don't have a fourth? The perpetual moving of the goal posts wasn't part of the deal.

There's a bloke outside the Jacobs Well vaccination centre this morning with a placard. No to vaccine passports and likening all this to the start of Nazi Germany.

I dislike comparisions with Nazi Germany. However long before they were burning bodies there where huge drives to dehumanise and scapegoat a section of society for all the ills in the worlds.

I am shocked at how easy it has been in a matter of months to drive a huge wedge between people and how many people have easily followed to see the others as undesirables.

    Yet more apples and pears.
Dehumanising sections of the population because of their ethnicity/skin colour/religion is in no way comparable to saying that people (of any kind) who refuse to do the socially responsible thing may have to bear the consequences of their (in)actions.

As things stand, I'm not in favour of vaccine passports, although that could change if the booster jabs turn out , as hoped, to have much lonnger-lasting suppression of contraction/transmission. But this knee-jerk, lazy conflation of two very different things really grinds my gears.

You must have missed where I said I dislike comparisons with Nazi Germany. Your response also suggests you are starting to lean on the side of blaming all the ills on these people.

They always have the "new variant of concern" up their sleaves to throw out.

The current narrative on the unvaccinated has moved away from them being those who fuel the spread of the virus to that they are taking up places in hospitals needlessly. Well I guess overweight people, smokers, etc all take up places in hospitals needlessly.

Lets wear something that shows how many jabs we have to allow others to decide if they should go near them.

I bet you anything if someone on a checkout was seen to have no jabs and someone else was seen to have two jabs, through the irrational fear spread through the world there would be many people who would not queue up at the unjabbed person's checkout. Why, because they have been frightened by constant messaging which tells me that it is more than just "Hospital Bed Blockers" at work here.

They are taking up hospital beds needlessly. And they are more likely to spread the virus compared to those with the jab, for at least some of the time before immunity from contraction wanes.
I'm not saying they should be treated as unclean. But nor do I think they should be given a free pass when 80% of the population has done the socially responsible thing and they haven't.

You did say that you dislike comparisons with Nazi Germany, but then the rest of your post talked about the Nazis dehumanising sections of the population, in a clear comparison with today's unvaccinated people. You can't have it both ways. You can't dislike comparisons with the Nazis and then compare their blanket dehumanisation on racist grounds with the understandable frustration that the vast majority of the population feel towards those who refuse to do the socially responsible thing.

951k people have been see to have the virus between the most recently reported 4 week period.

Of which 37.5% of them were Children. 8% of them were unvaccined adults. That leaves 54.5% of cases being vaccinated adults.

This straw man of it's all the 8% of cases pushing us over the edge and they are the problem.

In the same period of the 3,430 people who died, 17% were unvaccinated, however 65% were vaccinated and over the age of 70.

If the unvaccinated are such as risk, why not apply lockdown rules to everyone over the age of 70 regardless of vaccination status for their own safety?

You keep saying this but it's absolutely minimal based on the latest and best studies.

An unvaccinated person has a 70% chance of passing it on to a close contact. At best someone vaccinated with AZ reduces to a 57% chance of transmission 2 weeks after the jab and after 3 months it's back up to the similar level as before.

So it reduces the risk of transmission by about 20% but only for about 2 months. It really is minimal difference.

Do you have a link for those figures?
What I'm struggling with is that all the reports coming out of hospitals are saying that the Covid ICUs are rammed full of unvaccinated people, yet you're saying that only 17% of Covid deaths are unvaccinated. Are the hospital staff lying?

    COVID-19 vaccine surveillance report - week 45 (publishing.service.gov.uk)

You can have a look for yourself. There are a host of excuses listed there to point to the high death rates in the vaccinated people such as,

    upload_2021-11-17_14-39-6.png

As for the death figures, they are stacked heavily in the elderly like they have been all along, vaccinated or unvaccinated.

    upload_2021-11-17_14-41-26.png

I do not doubt for one second that those death figures would be off the charts if vaccination wasn't in place, I've been vaccinated for that very reason. What I don't accept is we are being overrun by a small proportion of the population who have chosen to go unvaccinated. Yes there is a higher rate of hospitalisation and death in those catergories but overall it's the same groups who were suffering the worst at the start who are still suffering now and that isn't really going to change.

I will give you a little more data so you can make your own mind up about hospital staff.

    Statistics » COVID-19 Hospital Activity (england.nhs.uk)

    Monthly publication of COVID-19 data
    The publication covers:
the number of patients in hospital with Covid including those in mechanical ventilation
the number of patients admitted to hospital with Covid
the number of patients diagnosed in hospital with Covid
the number of patients discharged from hospital
    staffing absences.

There will be a small margin of error but based on

Healthcare in England | Coronavirus in the UK (data.gov.uk)

The total number of people admitted to hospital as of the 1st September 2021 was 447,389. The total number as of the 3rd November 2021 was 493,014. The movement there is 45,625.

Since 1st September the number of patients being admitted because of Covid was 20,392.
Since 1st September the number of patients being admitted but later found to have Covid whilst in hospital was 25,252.
    The total there is 45,644.

So there is a margin of error but the difference between the two figures in two difference sources of government data is 19 people.

That gives us 45% of people included in the official daily figures going into hospital because they have Covid. It also give us 55% of people included in the official daily figures going into hospital for some other reason other than Covid. However this full pool of data will generate a countdown for a 28 day death from test result, even though less than half the people were originally in hospital for Covid in the first place. (And this is off 30k+ cases per day consistently since September)

Figures are being presented to make things look far worse than they actually are when more than half of hospital admission in the last 2 months when cases have been at their highest were not actually for Covid. They actually caught Covid in hospital because these people would not be allowed into hospital in the first place if they had not had a clear test.

Why does this matter? Well seeing as the elderly are the ones still dying, how many of those deaths in the elderly we actually see are due to Covid and how many died with Covid but were dying anyhow because the elderly by default are more likely to be ill? We know the media push out the big figure daily no questions asked and that ramps up fear factor even though many deaths are likely from other causes.

It’s not as simple as that though is it.

People are having to / will have to prove that they’ve had ‘x’ amount of Covid vaccines in order to do every day tasks, hobbies and generally just live their lives.

If you’re happy to do that, hats off to you, but many of us aren’t.
