Unfortunately it something you cant legislate for at this level, we score from a sitter their end and we go 1 - 0 up, they go down the other end no particular problem with the ball in and what was a 70/30 ball for Songo to clear he doesn't, Sunday morning stuff, any doubt "ROW Z" but he gets very little on the ball and we find ourselves 1 - 0 down.
But having gone behind we could have shipped more but to our credit we more than matched them and deserved our point which it so easily could have been 3 without their keepers save from Gilliead late on, then again it could have been game over if someone had got onto that late cross in our box.

Chance cremation lol couldn't have put it better myself hahaha

I don't think we're in the mix this year just my opinion based on the fact we aren't up there not have we been it's not impossible of course but I just don't think it will happen at this stage

We've been making improvements but there are fundamental issues that won't get solved on the training ground and January is unlikely to bring a goalscorer

Massive error by Songo'o to allow them to score. Songo'o is not a centre back. Huge miss seconds earlier by Vernam. Vernam is not an out and out striker. Seems to be a pattern here. Signings in January are a must, or we'll continue to lose/draw games because we're not playing players in their proper positions. Adams must absolutely put his foot down and convey this information to Rupp and Sparks. I'd also consider shipping out Gillead, because he's a player who seems to get game time, despite not having a clearly identified role in the team, and therefore is completely ineffective.

You beat me to it! I was just about to write something along the lines of burning our chances...

I'll take the point; we are it seems becoming tougher to beat. I agree, though, that promotion might be a bit much this season -- absent a particularly good January window.

Can't believe the negativity here. Since the beginning of October - including the FA cup - we've played six of the teams above us in the table and only lost to one. Fair enough, we're quite capable of losing to teams below us but have we seen any team above us who we need to be afraid of? For sure we aren't the complete package but we do have some good players, though making a good team out of them is clearly problematic, and Adams is still in his first season. For sure visiting VP is a lot happier experience than it has been for quite a while and Adams looks like someone who not only knows his job but can provide entertainment as well - something we haven't seen in quite a while.

Cheer up - at least I don't think we'll be relegated this season and how often have we been able to say that?

This time last year we were worrying about dropping out the league and a few months later on the edge of the play offs yes we dropped away but it shows there is everything to play for we are creating chances which is always a good thing and key players are returning there is reason for optimism an excellent point today against a team that had won the last seven home games on the trot

I too cannot believe the negativity from some towards Adams and the players on social media.

That was a very good point against the in form team of our division who have been scoring for fun recently.

I thought we looked very well organised, the goal apart, I thought we defended very well.

Going a goal down away from home against anyone, nevermind a top 3 team in the previous few seasons would have seen us fold like a pack of cards. Credit where it is due, Adams responded with a double substitution that changed the second half and swung the balance back in our favour. After we equalised, I thought we pushed on strongly looking for the winner rather than sit back.

    In Adams I trust

Once you get used to accepting we will not out possess teams, I enjoy watching Adams’ counter attack football.

they have their flaws but I’d be shitting bricks if i was a FB and Gillead and Vernam were running at me.

It will click into place for us in December I hope (i think I know)

Good point at a difficult venue that has a huge pitch to cover, having said that we need goalscorers in the team, Players such as Gillead and to some extent Vernon who just cannot score the chances created need to be replaced in January.
Will be good to get Cook and Angol in the team together as well

What fundamentals are these that won't get solved on the training ground.

I'd be delighted to have us bring in a goal scorer but we have 9 games before the January window opens if we can keep Angol fit and add Robinson, Lavery and Cook when fit to compete for the striking positions it could look a far different situation come January.

That goal we conceded was comical. Looking back at it, not a single player covered themselves in glory. Players jogging back,Paudie getting turned inside out, Songo kicking air, O’Donnell parrying the ball back into the feet of the striker, Rideleigh ball watching, Canavan an Paudie standing on the penalty circle doing nothing whilst the port vale players are alert to the situation, Foulds not being quick enough to get back on the line.

I suppose you cant blame Adams for being overly defensive in his tactical setup when the team is making silly mistakes week in week out

Yep I forgot about the lad Eisa, that's a reason I don't think he will spend money on a striker and any we may be looking at will come with a premium. I think Adams could use the loan market.

Jesus christ what was Songo'o attempting to do with his feet there? :scream: That ball should have gone into outer space.

Angols header was really well placed.

Robinson also taking up some good positions to receive the ball.

Agree totally Herts - there is still a lot to do, a few player changes to improve the team in January etc but we are developing gradually.
Yes we are missing far too many chances and this has to be addressed asap, but in the last 10 minutes we were getting 6 players breaking into their box.
Angol looked a different class when he came on and a great header (massive credit to Foulds), just hope he can have an injury free spell.

More then happy with today’s result yes a win would have been great yes some sloppy play . Angol coming of the bench scoring with a cracking header really lifted me I thought today’s performance was okay R.O.D pulled off some good saves and we dealt with Vale well at times. I can’t really criticise the lads hopefully we’ll get a fit squad and “ Move on Up “

Can I also compliment Port Vale, both sets of fans and the bugler for a wonderfully observed and moving tribute before the match

Songo had the chance to clear it both times with his left foot but chose not to do so. Thats more worrying than the fact that he aired his attempted clearance with his right foot

Robinson isn’t cut out for the target man role. Personally I think he would thrive (for Robinsons standards anyways) if he was partnered alongside Angol
