My guess is that Rupp is not willing to finance the club, sensibly or not. I don’t for a second think he’d see us fail, but my guess is his instructions to Sparks are along the lines of everything you spend you have to earn, I’m not adding a penny more unless I absolutely have to. If someone comes along with an offer that meets his valuation, he’s out of here.

If you sit back and look, the ahem average summer recruitment, all the commercial partnerships, all the 1903 club profits go to the player budget, hiring a manager who might get us promoted on a small budget, letting Crankshaw go when on balance he could have probably have stayed. It all points to sticking to the budget. In the unlikely event we go on a cup run, then I’d imagine the money earned would go in to the playing budget.

Rupp probably doesn’t care about City like we do as fans, but I’ve no doubt he wants the best for us, if only because that’s how he’s getting some of his money back.

Fordy likes to moan about Rupp out and not offer any potential buyers but there people buying clubs actively. you could hope that someone who misses out on a Hull or a Derby might start to look down the leagues

Like he's a 12 year old kid or summat!

He's a grown ass man, why would he work under Warnock?

For all Fordy’s faults, of which there are many, it’s not his job to identify new owners. That’s the job of the brokers Rupp engages. Chances are the next person to buy City is somebody we’ve never heard of.

Broadly speaking I think he's doing a decent enough job, especially off the field. However, I do agree that the approach to footballing matters has been haphazard but let's face it, we're his first gig as CEO so he's going to be learning on the job and there's a good chance of some missteps along the way. Getting DA over the summer was a coup and he does seem to keen to use his experience to remodel the footballing side of things which will hopefully stand us in good stead for the future but his approach (certainly in the short term) and his focus on promotion is at odds with the vision that RS previously had regarding youth development. Neither approach is right or wrong per se but they are different it's this type of flip flopping that I'd like to see the back of.

Do chains of command stop in organisations when a person reaches a certain age?

Do people stop taking advice/guidance when necessary from trusted mentors when reaching a certain age?

Leaving aside three important points, Adams is going nowhere, McCall isn’t coming back, nor should he and why on earth would highly remunerated Championship level manager Colin winner come to a mid table league two club without a pot to piss in, Stuart is closing in on 60, Warnock is 73 next month. We can all learn new things but I’d say McCall is at the point where he should be mentoring younger managers, not the other way around.

He's not even young enough to be Warnock's son.

Robert Smethurst bought Macclesfield last year and set up new club and has spent £5m so far. So you are quite right, people are still spending and buying clubs with even far less potential than us. Our problem is allegedly Rupp wants far too much to sell up.

What exactly has he spent £5 million on? If its the purchase of the club and the ground I can see why as the land around there is prime Real Estate.

It's a good watch and shows the difficulty (and expense) of establishing a phoenix club. Local entrepreneur Smethurst and Savage have together done a remarkable job after buying the club from the liquidators and building into a sustainable club albeit in the the 9th tier of the pyramid. There is a very good (non-footballing) team there and they have developed a good model to operate.

    Good luck to them.

To that point do we know if anyone is brokering the club?

That would be under a confidentiality agreement I am certain of that. I’ve been involved in a couple of M&A projects and it’s been very much on a need to know basis, even down to the level of a confidentiality club within those in the know for the more sensitive information.

And do you honestly think that a 60 year old management veteran of several clubs would take up a number 2 position?

    You're on the wind up.

Nope. Warnock comes in as the senior figure with strong football knowledge, a Director of Football kind of role and Stuart comes in as Head Coach/First Team manager.

Just like when they successfully worked together at Sheffield United as manager/coach, just in elevated roles as their careers have progressed.

This has got an Amazon original series written all over it, they worked together and did the business back in the 2000's at the club Warnock loves, now can they repeat that success at the club Stuart does?

With the upcoming rebrand this is ideal timing to raise the club's profile. Sparks should be all over this opportunity.

    :joy:

Have you considered the level of budget required to bring those two in?

Even setting aside whether Stuart would even come back.

If Rupp cares he'll fund it.

We'll make it back tenfold with the Amazon coin.
