Think I've got an answer for you on the missing rates.

The office for statistics regulation (basically a body who watch of for manipulation of data in the public domain) have alerted the NHS to the fact that the rates are misleading.

Basically because we know with 100% certainty how many people have been vaccinated we know that rate is bang on. However because we don't actually know how many people are in the country - especially in certain age groups - the rate in unvaccinated people is an estimate and could actually be way off. The more people get vaccinated the more the margin of error in the unvaccinated grows.

They've also asked for an acknowledgement that people who are unvaccinated are less likely to engage in testing but that seems to be a secondary issue to the problem with the estimate of the population.

New Zealand found their population estimates were way out. Here is a graph of vaccine uptake by ethnicity. As can be seen, some are at over 100% and that is before taking into account people who haven’t had a vaccine at all

That's and issue if they under estimate the population, and over estimate actually lowers the rate per 100k.

The bottom line is that the virus is freely passing in a vaccinated population which renders vaccine passports pointless.

Good news indeed. Maybe now an extra barrier has been put out for those who require it, we might not have to lay down our lives to protect the NHS.

It's a shame that there aren't more drugs available that can treat COVID. You know, one's that have been around for years and that are incredibly cheap. Hang on....

That's the narrative every single day unless you have missed it.

We must protect the NHS, and there is me thinking it was to protect us.

I do, by paying more and more taxes to keep it running. And I shall be paying more next year. Not a 1.25% increase like is being claimed, it is a near 10% increase. If you were paying 12p in the £1 and then you have to pay 13.25p in the £1, that is not a 1.25% increase. A 1.25% increase of 12p in the £1 would be 12.15p in the £1.

Yup. Blame the Tories, who have been systematically crippling the NHS for the last eleven years.
Quite obviously the NHS needs much more money to bring it back its record high functioning under Blair & Brown. The £37 billion they've spaffed up their friends' walls on totally useless test & trace 'systems' would have helped a lot.
But, in the short term, allowing Covid cases to run out of control, filling intensive care wards full of very sick, mostly older, Covid patients through the winter, will have knock on implications for healthcare throughout the population. You can't just magic up extra doctors, nurses and other essential staff overnight.

What are you on about I posted something that we all hope helps with Covid and you go off on one, quoting "we might not have to lay down our lives to protect the NHS".

And yet here we are with the daft idea of kicking 100k staff out of the profession because they aren't vaccinated.

Is that the Brown & Blair combination that oversaw the biggest reduction in beds and pushed on with PFI?

70k more nurses, 20k more GPs and consultants, 118 new hospitals, 188 new practice clinics.
Waiting lists at an all time NHS low. Patient Satisfaction at an all time NHS high.

The ugly truth is that you can't fund a modern healthcare system purely from taxation. The costs involved have grown so far from what was originally envisaged that its a completely different beast and new issues such as covid just exasabate that.

Of course any discussion about funding healthcare in a different way is completely taboo in the UK so the issues are simply skirted around.

Was just showing that your comment was meaningless as the first two things the Tories are doing better with

No, it's not meaningless. The fact is that (whatever the doctor numbers etc) during the Tories' period in government, the waiting lists have grown, standards of service have declined and the customer satisfaction has nosedived, from the all time highs of the Blair years.
