Just need the usual comment of "we are well prepared and have identified our targets" before panic signing at the last minute

From Herr Rupp through to the playing staff there appears to be an air of non committal at the club...

You aren’t wrong, it’s felt that way the last near 4 years and it got me thinking why.

I work for quite a small but successful and close not company. Our success and hard work to the job comes from our boss/owner who even know in his 70s is non stop and loves what he does. This infects the rest of the team, I thought imagine if he was distant, quiet, didn’t have an interest in the company other than not to lose money and most of all had no real time and dedication to it would we perform how we do? Which has seen year on year growth for the last 9 years, absolutely no chance. Why should a football club be much different? I know some clubs still have success despite owner issues so it’s not an exact science, but I imagine they still have off field leaders who are passionate driving the players and manager and making them realise what they do has an impact. Where is that in our club? An owner who’s disinterested and knows nothing about football and a young CEO who knows more about speedway and fell into the role from Twitter, I can’t see the leadership and drive from the top and I think it trickles down.

I'm not convinced that Rupp has no interest in the club. It's simply that his interest in the club is different to yours or mine or that of most other fans. It goes without saying that we all want success on the pitch and to get promoted out of this bloody division. I suspect Rupp's interest is very different to our own. He has no history with the club and isn't even a football fan. His sporting interests lie elsewhere and his involvement with us rests solely with protecting the €6million it cost him to buy the club. Rupp is content for the club to tick over, without making a loss, so long as he isn't forced into spending more of his own money ... even at the cost of the club becoming a permanent fixture of the khazi division. If we get promoted, it's a bonus for Rupp.

As I’ve said numerous times, we’re his Dragons Den project. Chucked some money in on the back of a pitch by Rahic, happy to let it tick over. If something good happens, he takes his share, if it doesn’t, he clears off and puts it down to a misplaced investment. What he’s not gonna do, is throw money at it.

What was that mad quote from Sparks in pre-season. Something about researching a signing to a great depth, more so than at most other clubs etc. i smell BS!

Is that any different to all the owners in the past? How many of the previous "threw money" at the club?

They don’t because they have been Rhodes.

When an accountant is basically showing you the ways to not spend money then you won’t.

And with this post it kind of explains why we won’t go anywhere as a club and why us fans are all mugs following the club that the owner is using like some project.

As soon as he appointed Twitter boy as CEO you knew he was done.

What an awful owner we have. The club is going no where fast.

The only time we've had genuine financial investment was during the Richmond, Rhodes time, and even then we hear the major benefactors were Dr Rhodes family.

So the one time since 1903 it happened we had some fun, but it didn't really end well did it. No wonder owners don't want to throw money at it.

I suspect we will be hit with the January window "carrot on the stick" everytime we get thrashed this year. Without any serious money the inevitable 31st January fiasco awaits.

If there is indeed any money available for the playing budget, and a real appetite to change, it would be worth looking to see if there any quality non-contract players who would consider City and could be signed and trained up now, if they exist?

And where are we now? Bottom tier of the football league. Its because money hasn't been spent, that we're now in this position, a position that really doesn't make any sense for our current owner to spend. It all started years ago. As much as we like to point fingers at Rupp, we shouldn't forget that we've been in freefall for season after season.

The freefall started under Rupp. He has taken us from the verge of Championship football to flirting with relegation to non league football.

You can't build a solid foundation on sand though. At least Rupp had the good sense to ship his mate out of the equation. Dread to think what would have happened if Rahic had been left to drive the ship longer than he did.

Lawn and Rhodes left a solid foundation for Rupp and Rahic to go on and take to next level. Whatever you think of Rahic, Rupp has failed us miserably
