Given the ‘cap’ on the number of (Senior) players over a certain age, then balanced recruitment is about having players who are relatively resilient and do not have a history of injury. Signing players who are at an age, when accumulative appearances put them at heightened risk of not being available is a major risk.
We don’t have the luxury of having say 25/26 senior players.
You would have thought there would be an assessment and balancing exercise on the probability of players being available.
Factor in suspensions, health and ‘personal’ reasons, then has this group of players got the resilience to be available in numbers and be match fit?

Under Sparks a number have already come and gone he simply wouldn’t dare sack Adams I don’t think especially as our start isn’t exactly a disaster some are making out. He won’t quit either what manager does without another job lined up it makes no sense. There seems to be tensions behind the scenes judging by what’s gone on, but I expect Adams will get his own way he’s the only senior person at the club now with actual football knowledge for a start.

I think the only tension behind the scene is the strong minded young CEO hiring an equally strong minded manager and the two having slightly different views on certain things I really don't see any problem at all that won't be resolved with a win or two

I am not happy that we gave up so quickly on establishing a long term hierarchy within the club I think appointing a DoF and a head of recruitment that are Bradford City men not transient like managers was and still is the best strategy but that doesn't mean Turnbull was the man for the job either but nor does it mean we won't replace him

If there is some friction it's probably strictly professional and not a problem Adams speaks his mind quite clearly as we've heard on the wireless and Sparks speaks his mind as we all know the two of them both want the best for the club even if neither will be here in 10 years so like I said earlier over to Adams to deliver now on the pitch

I wouldn't expect a single change this season in terms of the manager if we lose Adams even if we fail to achieve promotion I think we've done the wrong thing and I will lose hope of us ever getting promoted if we can't back people to succeed

The one thing I don't understand is how sparks didn't explain to Adams that we struggle to score goals! And a player like novak who has been able to score goals for us shouldn't have been let go, sparks and Adams have definitely had run ins in regards to signings and scouting, and the first glimpse Adams has had of sparks double standards is when the budget was adjusted to sign a has been striker!

Novak was probably let go because of his injury record and as far as I know he hasn't got a club so those injury problems may be continuing

I know it's disappointing on paper to lose a striker and hire a bunch of also rans that aren't even playing but Novak doesn't seem to be the answer for anyone let alone Bradford City

He's actually set up a entertainment business with his wife if I'm correct, but yes I get he's had his troubles with injuries but, angol, lavery and Robinson all out injured!

Is that right didn't know that good for him I rated him when he was on the pitch for sure and glad he's doing what he wants to do

It's very disappointing with all the injuries including the captain Songo'o but I hope when the squad is fully fit we start firing on all cylinders

I'm not quite sure how he expects an entirely new team to somehow gel together, know each other's games and play well in combination and a different formation when most of them have had so little match time, constantly not been picked and had the manager say they are not good enough.

Adams created the environment that made that mess of a performance last night and now he'll use it to blame them and say that's why they can't play for the first team.

Sorry, but it's poor management in my eyes. Recruitment has been poor but the selection last night to make 10 changes was also poor.

Folk say this a lot but if we want to draw comparisons to Morecambe and Adam's approach there last season then it doesn't make sense.

Medez-Gomes was their highest scorer last season with 14 or 15,he got about 2 or 3 the season before.

Same with Stockton, went from 5 in one season to double figures.

With Adams it's not just about the players, it's about the formation and tactics and then about players upping their games and scoring.

On the stats of the 19/20 season almost everyone on here would have binned off Stockton and Mendes-Gomes but then they wouldn't have scored the 25-30 goals the next season.

Lavery, Robinson, Vernam, Gilliead, Cooke - all have similar records. We'll just have to see if any of them could muster anywhere near the 10 goal mark this season. Looks like Vernam possibly could.

Novak retired due to the injury he suffered mid season. He attempted a comeback at the end of the season, but he knew then it was time to retire

We are going through a bad spell, the frustration of which stem from an inability to bring in goalscorer/s in the transfer window. It seems Adams lays the blame with Turnbill although it would be interesting to her his side of the story. Talk already in the T and A about being ready for January also adds to the frustration, we can't seem to get the balance of a transfer window right. Trueman and Sellars showed what can be done with any squad of players last season and i expect Adams to get some reaction out of what he's got at his disposal. Adams probably will get success at Bradford but it won't be with this squad of players, as such its gonna take longer than we wanted or expected to get it.

Shame because we played our best football under T & S with him in the team. You could tell he'd played at a decent level although coming to the end of his career. What we have now is three bang average league 2 strikers, not a combination you'd put your money on to get you promoted. Hindsight eh......

I do find it a little disconcerting that it's not yet October yet the club have already offered more excuses than the book of Lenny Lawrence's excuses for crap performances.
Saturdays excuse is already written... we've no strikers fit and Cook can't be expected to shoulder all the burden alone.

It makes you wonder what actually went on in Adam’s job interview? If he’s frustrated about recruitment and the quality of players available to us (Robinson), then why didn’t he ask more questions during the meeting? And to be totally honest, I’d have expected Turnbull to be part of the interview panel team.

Either the goalposts have been moved (what an apt expression!) or Adam’s has only got himself to blame.
