Not good enough today, too slow, one up front is not working, and midfield were poor today and need a kick up the ass bar excellent Vernon. How many saves did their keeper make, hardly any. Callum Cooke couldn’t finish his dinner.

manager poor selections, their no 4 was hopeless, I saw Villa reserves smash these on the telly. Sutton would have run rings round their midfield but the manager picks old man Evans.

Amazing start but teams have got wise to us now and another season in L2 looks on the cards with recent form and results.

Thought the game was depressing and then came on here to find that the world has actually ended.

    Get a grip folks.

Everyone's a manager aren't they. Maybe part of the reason we never seem to keep one.

Genuine question though - I wonder how we compare when looking at shots on target plus also goals conceded as a proportion of opposition shots on target. The second feels like an area where we could be poor.

No surprises there. I would like to know where we rank in the league for chance conversion though. My guess is bottom three.

On that basis we should be winning home games and drawing away, have 16 points and be second (at least).

Stats…..are just that. Goals and points speak a lot louder.:OO:

How dare you, haven't you noticed ROD is a brilliant shop stopper, grabber of crosses, commander of his box.
    Only in training though.

On a side note, did anyone sample our new range of “mental health” drinks? They should be given out free each game :D :D :D

I love this early season excuse of creating and missing chances!.
Not interested in the least, ive heard this line for 50years
Someone needs to inform DA that no one ever gets promoted on chances.. its goals that count..
There's plenty of clubs gone out of the league on missed chances!!

They have yeah, but we've also gone through spells with various managers when we've gone two or three games without looking like scoring.

It's a difficult one, there is the negativity of one up front and two holding midfielders, yet there isn't the handbrake on approach of bowyer or T and S as proved by the 125 shots this season stat above.

He's picking a team and formation that's creating chances however they aren't putting them away, that itself isn't Adams fault.

Not sure where we go, does playing two up front adjust the system so much so that we don't create these chances, or does having the two bodies in there give us the goals to get us winning or not.

Bit of a dilemma for a DA

Im pretty much of this opinion. We have recruited on the basis that this is the formation the manager is going to play. I really can’t see another formation working with the players we have. 4-4-2 won’t work IMO as we don’t have the central midfielders to do it. Cooke can’t play in that formation so it’s a no go.
We can’t go 5-3-2 or 3-5-2 as our CB options are thin as he clearly doesn’t favour Staunton and our RB isn’t a right back never mind a right wing back and it would mean Vernam and Crankshaw and Eisa would be subs.
3-4-3 which is the formation Forest Green and Leyton Orient seem to be having success with and is an option but again id worry about our wing backs. It’s a conundrum and one I’m glad I don’t face with 17,000 on my back.

If we are creating all these chances why is the opposing keeper hardly making a save?

Think we might be flattering our abilities, a half chance means nothing, it’s goals that count and we don’t look like scoring.

Because they keep falling to Vernam and he hits the target once every five shots

Tbh he is far from the worst, Calum Cooke is awful in front of goal. Gillead a complete mincer, Watt anonymous, Evans, walking in quicksand. It’s no surprise we can’t score.

It's frustrating though because it's chance after chance after chance fair play to him for getting into good positions so often but his finishing is terrible

However like you say Gilliead doesn't even get into good positions he doesn't create many chances for others and he isn't a threat

Callum Cooke is good at free kicks but poses very little threat other than that and Watt only threatens once every couple of games with a long ranger

I said it before but having Gilliead and Vernam either side of Cook is just so limiting in terms of getting goals how many times did Vernam seem to miss the target with very similar opportunities always curling it wide over and over it was kind of unbelievable

Then he scores a header lol
