I'm not sure Sparks' comment about stretching the budget was about Robinson in particular, more about over the transfer window as a whole. Theoretically, Robinson should be costing us peanuts. Vale wanted rid and terminated his contract so if we didn't negotiate for them to pay off a substantial amount of the remainder of his contract thus leaving us with a small amount to pay to make up the difference, we will have been very foolish.

Most of the fans would agree with you and hope he does well for us although the low key way the club has announced his joining us reinforces the fans view that we expected better, But good luck to the lad if he puts the effort in it will help him be adopted by the fans

 

You're missing the point. In the pre-season of 2011-12, we got comments about Wells not been the answer!!

Every single striker we sign, far too many on here, who by the way have absolutely no solutions themselves, MOAN.

Even Charlie Wyke was two indifferent games from some smarty pants on here, telling us he couldn't do this or that. By the way that's the same player that scored 31 goals for Sunderland last season.

I've no idea if Robinson will be any good - but I'm not going to accept nonsense from fans who class virtually every striker we sign as 'hopeless' - based on a lazy reading of the past record

The point is that Robinson had a very good 2019/20 season (or maybe 20 goals for two different clubs isn't 'very good' to what we expect). That's not so long ago, to be ranking him with obvious dubious strikers, like Guthrie

 

I get that but this guy was Port Vales god knows what’s choice but he was playing with the u18s and he’s 32. I can’t say anyone is elated with that especially with the increase in ST prices and the introduction of the 1903 club membership, which had the sole purpose of getting a top end budget to get decent players for this level.

 

I never mentioned that every striker we sign is 'right shite'. Just most of them. I hope Robinson makes a successful contribution, just as I would any City player. But it's clear Adams did not get his intended targets for whatever reason, he alludes to this after the Lincoln game, that's why people are making comparisons with Guthrie. Although to be fair Robinsons signing had bugger all to do with Julian Rhodes so I expect him to at least make a better contribution that the likes of Guthrie.

I always find it worrying when the montage of a striker shows near misses and tackles because there aren’t enough goals to pad the video out. Let’s hope we don’t get many injuries.

 

One of the clubs montages from just before Stuart got sacked included 2 different views of the same penalty because we didn’t have enough highlights to fill about a minute and a half.

I remember Robinson being a decent player in his younger days and he seems to have done well at Colchester the season before last. I don’t know what went wrong at his last club but hopefully we see the Robinson of his Colchester spell.
We seem to have forgotten Lavery in the build up to the end of the transfer window let’s hope he can contribute as well
