Match Thread Away v Exeter City @3.00pm Sat Aug 7th

Just a heads up for anyone driving down, I have the misfortune to have to drive it most weeks (including tomorrow morning).
At this time of year I’d go M1 down to Leicester Forrest, cut across on the M69 to the M40.
Go M40 to Oxford A34 follow the A34 down as far as Andover, then take the A303 all the way to Exeter your still looking at best part of 5.5/
6 hours but other than at Stonehenge it should move relatively freely on a Saturday

 

How would m1 to Rothersthorpe, a43 past Silverstone, m40, a34 to Andover work ?

 

Just as well, my satnav always wants me to go that way, it’s slightly less miles but personal preference is M69 as it’s one of the last Mways you can get your toe down on without worrying about cameras or Mr Plod!!

Think you'll be right about Sutton. Adams needs Songo'o for the whole season. If he's still feeling the injury at all, don't think he'll be risked. Be happy with either Angol or Eisa starting, knowing that either is there to come in if the game needs changing. And who do you reckon will be captain for the season, Sergio?

 

Got to confess I completely misread your first sentence and thought that's a bit OTT for watching a game of football.

Absolutely agree. Canavan is an organizer, a big shouter, he martials his defence but also pushes players forward. I think Songo'o would do the same, but it's interesting that Adams has always wanted to sign him but not give him the captaincy. I don't think for a second he doesn't rate him as captain material, just don't think he needs to give him the name. Adams knows how well Songo'o protects his defence and then can move attacks on, a leader in front of the boiler room and a serious link into the attacking quarters. This is going to be an exciting season, Sergio.

Damn! Thanks for the reminder. I'd forgotten that Fordy is a car wash man who has far more knowledge and understanding of football than...well... a highly trained ex player, coach and then manager who's won honors at three different promotion winning sides.

 

Was wanting to add Exeter to my grounds visited but unfortunately flying back from Crete (heatwave) to a million days of quarantine. Would be nice for a win to put a marker down, but a draw will do.

 

Just seen Exeter have sold arguably there best player for a reported £1.5m. Hopefully they don’t splash the cash before Saturday
