massively disappointed in how poor evans has been for us this time round. hes the big earner i would absolutely be looking to bin off at the first opportunity now the rest of the deadwood is out. happy with ROD as a backup to Hornby, and I think long term its better ROD's gone to shit so we can let hornby get some proper game time being the younger of the two.

all things considered a loss isn't the end of the world, it's probably just validated adams belief in what his first XI is. A crap second string will not be an issue unique to us in this division, and I highly doubt we would field that side in proper games barring a horrendous injury crisis anyway. As has been alluded to already, I think swapping one or two of those into the first XI would be fine where they've got better players around them and the side is more settled, particularly at the back. rotating your entire xi will always make you look disjointed. I would still say pre-season has been positive overall.

 

Interesting comments from DA, his honesty is to be commended.
However, at what cost.
He's almost levelled criticism at several of his squad by an assertion they're not good enough.
It may work to drive and motivate them, I don't know what respect he commands behind the scenes.
But, he must be careful not to sow seeds of division among them before an ball is even kicked in anger.
Unity is massive in a successful squad.

 

I expect Eisa, Cook and ROD to be first choice for Exeter.

100% this isn't Morecambe that won't work here being too harsh. He has to be careful not to divide the squad. I like he has standards but no need to go all Roy Keane in pre season.

Very surprised on how open he was. He didn't hide the fact he thinks the youngsters in particular are not good enough yet. I think he is a manager who trusts and likes an experienced starting eleven.

 

Definitely inexperience was our downfall last night but we need more quality for the 1st team imo.

 

But you said its purely about fitness and showed yourself up. Adams has gone on record analysing the performance.
