    There are probably lots of them including the family and friends of the 130,000+ who have died of Covid and the millions who have been infected and suffered the effects of Covid

    The Australian approach might well appear ott to the UK population. But looking at the other side of the equation, Australia has only had 32,000 cases of Covid and that has resulted in 'only 900 fatalities. Compare those stats to the UK's which has a population about 2.5 times that of Oz.

    Our success story has been the rollout of the vaccine programme which many countries including Oz must envy. But that is hard to reconcile with the scale of Covid deaths and infections on our population despite the success of the vaccine programme.

    Edit - And despite the lockdowns, Australia's economy has already bounced back to its pre-Covid levels unlike those of most other countries, including our own.

    Of that 37.7% who are unvaccinated about 25.2% of them haven't been offered the vaccine as they are under the age of 18.

    So the actual take up of the vaccine is nothing short of tremendous.

    Someone is going to have to explain this to me. If you took part in the trials but got the placebo rather than the actual vaccine you still get a 'tick' on your covid passport?

    Nothing weird going on here?

    The whole thing is bizarre. A covid vaccine - which doesn't actually prevent someone being infected or infectious - is considered the mantra for safety, but someone who actually tests negative for the virus is considered unsafe?

    Is that so they still don't know they have the placibo? If they found out they might all go get the vaccination and therefore nullify any further data as they wouldn't have a base group

    And a considerable further proportion will be in the very low risk category of 18-30.

    As you say, the take up for those who have anything like a moderate risk, has been huge.
