Beyond the usual caveats of this was a Donnie side affected by Covid, you can only beat what's in front of you. And once again, we pressed hard from back to mid to upfront and looked safe in defence. Only friendlies, but hopeful for the season ahead. I like that Adams is always desperate to press, always trying to keep us on the front foot.

 

Y'what? He's not a new kid to Adams. Songo'o has been his most trusted player at four different clubs now.

well, if this game had been played 2 weeks ago, I would definitely have been there, vaccinated, wearing a mask and soaking up the sun and watching some live football. Kind of agree with Gardscoigne, but accept and respect that some are not yet ready for crowds.

That said, the game still needed winning. Sounds like another reasonable performance and a cracking penalty.

 

We've been crying out for a tough midfield enforcer since the halcyon shin smacking days of Gary Jones. Songo'o captain for me every time. Though Canavan's a good second shout, Songo'o could become a massive player for us.

I like the Farsely and Guiseley fixtures. Something different. VP for a friendly doesnt appeal.

 

I can’t recall going to many preseason friendlies at VP in my home and away days in the 70/80’s

But that warm summer evening local away was always too good to miss!

 

Starting to see what type of players Adams likes and hearing from the last two games he wants athletic players who press and harass and cause the opposition problems.

Looking like we have a decent first 11 building with some strength in depth. Would like 1 more in though-striker- if Cook gets injured I am not sure we can count on Angol but happy to be proved wrong.

Spot on Keefly. If you look at Adams record from Ross County onwards he's a tough taskmaster who demands a big press from his teams. He has a way of playing that has been very successful in terms of first, saving clubs on a down, and then rebuilding them into promotion teams. He's got alot to live up to at VP, but I reckon he's our best bet since Parky.

 

We're not seeing anything barring players trying to get fit.

We've played two games against two Mickey Mouse teams. Stop reading too much into pre season.
