He's a 16yr old on a non professional deal at a cat 3 academy being tapped up by a Premier league cat 1 club. Under the stupid EPPP rules, we'll probably get less than 100k for him. That is unless Leeds have paid above what the rules allow for him (why would they?) or we've got a sell on which I can see being possible as a good will gesture. But if you know the true value then please feel free to share.

It will be interesting to see how Angol does in pre-season.

Adams sees something in him and then for him personally it must give him a lot of confidence to come in somewhere new and get a fresh start. I hope he can find some form and have an impact.

Conor Mcaleny was at valley Parade to have a look around the day before he signed for Salford

They just made a better offer, just goes to show we are not going all out to get proven strikers

Think we are relying on Derek Adams getting the best out of average players

 

That's the type of player we shouldn't go all out for. As Ryan has said, they either want to come to us or they don't. If Salford are a bigger draw, then we know it's all about the money. I'm sure he'll have had offers from league 1, yet he's decided to join Salford under Bowyer who's a non attacking coach. Short career I suppose.

 

Proven striker? He's a player that had a stand out season last year, before that he was nothing special and over his career, his stats aren't that different to Angol. I'm pleased we made him an offer we thought was fair rather than 'going all out' to sign him and blowing a big chunk of our wage bill on a player that has basically had one really good season in his career.

 

As I posted before he is 28 and has scored 50 goals 21 of them last season could be a one season wonder

 

I do think McAleny would have been a good signing. You wont get much better this summer for free. His record last season for a poor side very good.

But he wasnt someone to push the boat out for. I dont blame him chasing a bit more money and signing for the league favourites. Salford closer to Oldham too. Not much but convenience factor too.

 

I still think we'll bring in a decent striker to fill that number 10 shirt. I can't see it being given to some kid who will have all the pressure of knowing he has to be good to wear that number e.g. a burrell or Samuels. Unless it's the likes of a very good kid lets say like Greenwood or Geldhart at Leeds.

 

Doubt Leeds are sending £1m and £3m strikers to play L2 football.
