It's July 1st the EFL use as the date for a players age for the season. Day after the contracts have expired, in the EFL/FAs eyes, July 1st is when the new season starts so they use that day for all their registrations stuff. Watt turned 21 in March.

‘Under 21 Player’ means a Player under the age of 21 as at the 1 January in the year in which the Season concerned commences (e.g. for Season 2020/21, born on or after 1 January 1999).

 

Good spot, just checked against the PDF download for last season and on there it states July 1st as the date the for age registration. Looks like something they've altered for this season. Does help squads that extra 6 month given they've reduced it from 22 registered players last season to 20 this season.

 

So 2 more over age players then (3 if Evans leaves)
Striker-priority. Someone who could play at both full back positions would be great as cover, unless FCD and Foulds are the chosen 2 as backups

 

I wonder if we’ll wait and see until squad lists are released and keep a spot or 2 open? Backup plan being a prem loanee forward to sit on the bench occasionally

 

Hope not any loans should be to improve the first 11, such as a Cullen, Burke or Pickford. I’d rather have our youngsters as backup than a Samuels or the guy from Boro who never even got on the bench coming in.

 

Didn’t Adams say in one of the three(?) interviews he would have the vast majority of the squad very quickly , and perhaps pad the squad with younger loanees before the season commences?

 

If any loan players come in they should be banging on the door of a starting spot. Unless he was brought in on an an extended trial with a view to a permanent deal, I still struggle to see why Rumarn Burrell was signed. it was a waste of his, Boro’s and City’s time. Likewise with Austin Samuels who it was clear from his first game was raw.
