Yes. He was so far ahead of everyone around him it was almost embarrassing. He followed that up with 11 in 38 for Posh in L1 the next season.
I haven't followed his career since then. It does sound as though he's been used more as a target man than a front-facing striker in more recent years. He did have a bad ankle injury a few years back. But I doubt that, at 26, he's completely lost the speed and control that he clearly had.
He has scored goals at a reasonable rate in L1 and also in L2 in Mansfield. There are many factors that can affect a striker's performance. Look at Eoin Doyle - there were many City fans, including plenty on here, who reckoned he was a lazy, washed up, waste of space, before he went to Swindon and Bolton and scored prolifically. Wrong manager, wrong tactics, low club morale etc etc can all contribute to players underperforming. I'm sure that Adams wouldn't have sanctioned the transfer unless he believes he can get a tune out of him. Let's wait and see.

I suppose the counter to that would be - did you think that Cambridge or Morecambe had "quality" in their squads at the start of the last season?

Would you have said Diagouraga or Mullin were "quality". What about NKP or Mellor who got their team promoted? Its easy to say that with hindsight though!

Would have been easy to say Bolton and Tranmere had some quality but it didn't work out well for both of those teams.

I agree with other recent posters who say we'll just have to see how the squad gels and how they play together in the first few games.

There isn't much quality in league two. That's why it's league two! Hindsight tells me those that go up will have a team with a combination of solid pros and a few players who appear to over-exceed based on recent seasons/stats. That's exactly what we need!

If you don't think Wes Hoolahan is quality for league 2 then I don't know what you are smoking.

As for Morecambe. No you are right. No quality but Adams given time to build a team with very low expectations.

He was not at Morecambe that long Fordy. Joined november 2019 , left june 2021, so 18 months approx.
that first season he replaced Bently half way through, guided them to safety and took them up the next, with the lowest budget. Pretty dam good in my opinion.

    You named one player :joy::joy:

Hilarious. Your football knowledge of other teams is dire. Admit it.

FYI he only played in 30 matches and didn't start all those apparently.

Per discussions yesterday, only those with a degree in transfer rumours should be putting them forward.

@Bradford End@Bradford End @Bronco@Bronco anymore news on the striker almost done?

Can we rule out Mo Eisa? Hes in the Cahmpionship, maybe his brother has pulled a few strings on a loan deal :)

    A) we could probably afford his wages, or at least a large percentage as he wont be on silly money at Posh
    B) his brother may be able to convince him to drop to L2
    C) Posh may loan him out hoping he can find himself again at L2 level thus increasing his current transfer fee.

Only issue is if Posh want to cash in now. His fee will be too high for us.

    Improbable....but not impossible.

His brother being here , who he's reportedly very close to, might help swing it, who knows. Stranger things have happened in football - often at VP!

An optimistic signing. One with promotion intent though...

I know this is an optimistic flyer that Sergio has put out there, but...the more you think about the situation, it may not be so daft a punt.

Still would see it as more than optimistic but you never know!
