What other clubs have done that this season?

Really only PL do that because they shift hundreds of thousands. Plus a lot of them competing against each other - some kids will have multiple top team kits. We probably have old stock to shift....

Id say early July, just before summer holidays is the best time to release.

The last game of the season that we lost? How would that help boost sales?

The thing for me is they miss a perfect opportunity with father's Day in the middle of June. It's an easy win for sales that they now miss. I know it's not the biggest selling day of the year but still feel it's a missed opportunity.

It's lazy not being able to showcase the kit at the last game of the season.

Maybe trying to sell last years kits off and come July we may have new names on the shirts.

We shouldn't see the new kit until the team run out in it on the first day of the new season.

Really? Kids with £50 spare to buy their Dad a shirt are going to be around 18 years old at least. That means their Dad will be anything upwards of late 30s in age.

Do grown up men actually wear football shirts? Assumed it was kids and young males.

Guess you assumed incorrectly then, you may not wear shirts but a significant proportion of over 30's definitely do.
If you assume that the kids actually go out under 16 years old and buy their dads a gift without a large degree of input from the mum then your mistaken.

I think men of a certain age are far more likely to wear a vintage/ retro shirt than the current one. That's the market we are missing.

Too right USG, still got my very worn Leigh Palin shirt somewhere. Must be from 87-ish.

In my experience I’m not sure how many 16-18 year olds buy a fathers’ day gift without input from their mum.

And for other gift-giving occasions, it will be a very brave man indeed who would buy Mum a gift without significant input from Mum!

Yes, shirts of certain vintages are all the more treasured. My 87 Great City one will come out on very special occasions; the last time was in the Senior Common Room after we'd beaten Arsenal in the Cup -- a colleague was (and still is, I suppose) a devoted Arsenalite.

I do, I am mid 20s though so i'm unsure if it counts as 'young male' :joy:
My dad does it too and he's in his mid 50s! personally I don't see an issue with it. they look nice, are great to wear in the summer and its a easy way to show your support for your team. it does make me think though that within football it is a relatively new thing.

I wear City shirts on holiday as I've said before they make a good conversation piece, one special night in Egypt where there were around 10 couples the men talking football on one table whilst their partners were talking children, grand children and knitting patterns ;).

Agree, just loved his style and scored one of my favourite all time goals against Everton too.

Loads of then on EBay atm. All reproductions. I’ve been saying it for years, if the club brought out a “retro line”, they’d clean up.
