Summer 2021 Transfers

Not like we were with George green anyway. We voted to take an annual fee from the PL of around five figures per year towards the academy didn't we as opposed to holding out for transfer fees or tribunals for young kids. Now we would get a set FPPP figure for him which is X amount per year each year he was in our academy.

Surprised we voted for it seeing as though we have been reasonably successful via ours. If you were a club that never produced anyone it was a no brainer but I thought we'd be more against it. Think that was a lawn/Rhodes decision

 

My lads just been invited to train with the Academy U14 goalkeepers. I might start house shopping with the way they seem to progress!

You can if your ambitious Park and say to the lad that you will get great opportunity here and can play regularly in the championship in a few years with us if you stay for the ride. Or you can play at Thorpe Arch with Leeds under 23s with little prospect of the first team. Richmond and Stafford Heginbotham used to sell the club to young players,I hope Sparks can do the same.

 

I will remind you of this when the kid is lost in Leeds under 23s. I just think it’s sad we now never get to see our bright young prospects play for us like McCall, Jackson,O’Brien. Instead we only get to see the likes of Dylan Mottley Henry. It’s one of the reasons we are almost permanently in the lower divisions. I’ll go take my cold bath now.

 

It's madness for us.

@Mike Hunt talked about building a squad and use youth but if we are going to find talent at a young age then sell them off all the time it makes no sense because if a PL club wants this 16 year old then he has the ability to go on to be good for us. No point then selling the young talent and then having talent that no one wants replacing them.

Then we have to sign a player for BPA that isn't good enough. We should be looking to keep the top talent in the background.

 

A friend of mine had the choice between City and Arsenal following his National Service stint. Manager Peter Jackson told him he will get many chances to play first team football at City and if he is good enough, someone like Arsenal will buy him. He signed for City before injury cut short his career. We can deal with injuries better now but it is still something to bear in mind.

 

As he’s on schoolboy terms he’s pretty free to do what him and his family wants. No employment for a schoolchild.

If you, as a father of a child were faced with the same circumstances, that the child could, I say could, change his future immeasurably by such a move, you say No you stay at Bradford City because ……… ?

Well I would be staying at Bradford.

A) I would expect to be in the 1st squad in 12 month.
B) I would then look at signing a PRO contract with Bradford City or the other teams that are interested gaining me more money.

Sometimes you just have to wait..

 

I think He will have signed scholarship contract with Bradford City therefore he will not be able to sign for another club without agreement from Bradford City.

 

Which then sees the lad do what? Take his ball home so to speak. It’s something we have to get used to. I don’t like it just like you, but as a parent, in the same circumstances you just realise the kid won’t have many life chances.
