Good heavens @Offcomedun , that's a blast from the past. Was he from same estate as John McGinlay, just outside Fort William?

 

I think those posts must have stopped when he did us at the halfway line.

 

Clearly some of the players we've been connected to over the years will succeed, that's just common sense.

What isn't common sense is using hindsight to single out that tiny percentage of players to try and pretend you knew best all along.

Just heard Jonny Williams been released by Cardiff. Us Welsh fans dont call him super Joniesta for nothing . Whether he be willing to drop into the khazi league is another question ??

Who

 

I agree, under the right conditions some of the players we actually DID sign might have blossomed into brilliant lower league players.

Had we signed Ivan Toney back then, there's no guarantee he would have done so well in the high-pressure cooker that is VP.

 

Fantastic player, but incredibly injury prone.

 

Some names that graduated from lower league sides but have now been released by bigger clubs (and involved up North):

Amari'i Bell
Hakeeb Adelakun
Amadou Bakayoko (6'4 centre forward with experience)
George Moncur
Billy Bodin (forward/winger, just the position we should be looking at)
Josh Ginnelly

Players I wouldn't mind us looking at:

Liam Coyle (released by Liverpool, not wanted by Bolton)
Liam Walsh (released by Bristol City)
Aramide Oteh (but only if he can play as a winger-forward)
Sean Goss
Callum McFadzean

Recognisable players who are good but probably looking to drop down a division or two:

Darren Pratley
Olly Lancashire (if he changed his name to Olly West Yorkshire)
John Joe O'Toole
Cian Bolger (6'4 defender)
Rob Hall (injury prone, though)
Louis Reed

Bigger name, much less realistic players:

Max Power
Louis Moult
Erhan Oztumer
Zach Clough

 

Remember Moncur running the show against us for a very poor Colchester side. Looked a player back then and has played in the Championship since but never seemed to be a regular for some reason.

 

Would love George Moncur. Quality lower league player who has held his own in Championship. Great age too.

But looks like he is Hull bound.

 

I saw him play against us at Colchester one Tues night. Didn’t rate him at all.

 

The world of footballs gone mad , Huddersfield and Coventry are offering Alex Gilliead a chance to play in the championship. The standard of player must surely have dropped in the championship, he's a league 2 player at best.

 

The lad has ability maybe playing with Championship players will benefit him.
