It's painful. It was with PMQs yesterday.

With all this ammunition how can they not even land a blow?

He will have a harder time with the media tonight in the press conference than he will from this joke of an opposition.

The biggest opposition to the government is from certain members of the 1922 Tories.

Let's say things in the late 40s after the war were hardly a walk in the park working and living conditions were far worse than 2021, I'm not having that as an excuse, especially when the statisticians say many ethnic minorities fair far better in education.

I believe what he said unlike last time he opened his trap. Funny how he made pains to say he wasn't a whistle blower but that's exactly what he is. Shame no one knows what to believe because of the lies he told before. Did make laugh reading Alistair Campbell mentioning Johnson and corporate manslaughter when Campbell's actiona during government were far more damaging.
Theyre all a bunch of shiesters.

Maybe, but it's difficult for the media because the ones who are most likely to go after them with hard questions are the same people/papers that have been saying how untrustworthy Cummings is for the last 4 years. It's then easy for Johnson/Hancock to just vaguely cast doubt and put the ball in the media's court to prove why they are taking everything as gospel now. It's a tricky line to tread.

If I was the media/opposition I'd be absolutely laser focused on the care homes situation and the comments about releasing people back into the them from hospital. But they won't, they'll meander off into the gossipy personality divisions, the timing of the first lockdown, herd immunity and unprovable comments that Johnson is supposed to have said.

The denying there was no herd immunity strategy is bonkers. We all know that to be the case and denying it just makes the government look like they can not accept mistakes have been made, and adds doubt to other claims they may make.

Here is Jeremy Hunt on Newsnight confirming that they switched strategy which is fine. There is no shame in thinking this is the best way forward, realising it isn't then changing course. The government won't even accept they were doing that in the first place.

So the chair of the health committee was aware that the initial strategy was herd immunity or is he wrong?

100% agree. The only thing I would say is that I'm not sure where it comes from. I know Cummings tweeted about it but haven't actually seen or heard Hancock say publicly that it was never part of the plan. If he's talking about what Hancock said just before the first lockdown there's probably some semantics in play.

Hosts of government ministers have been rolled out infront of the media to deny that herd immunity was at any stage the strategy.

Here is the home secretary denying this was the strategy. (This was as recently as Sunday). I am aware that the home secretary is thick as pig shit btw and her responses are just words thrown together to sound like an answer.

There are many more from Gove, Coffey, Jenrick, etc freely available.

Probably why I couldn't find it :joy: He'd specifically mentioned Hancock so had only searched for things relating to him.

Priti Patel is an absolute sociopath but like you say there will be others doing the same sort of interview. It's very very weird.

If Boris told Priti Patel to go out and deny today is Thursday she would go out and do so.

So Priti, what day is it today?

"We absolutely know that what you are asking is an attempt to divert us away from the good work and hard work the government is doing to ensure that we work in everyone interests and that the people don't care what day it is today, they just want to see the government get on with the job of running the country."

This is one of my favourite Priti Patel answers.

    This was the Question.

“If the new Covid variant is more infectious, why are the new rules more relaxed?”

And from what I can gather this is the answer to the above Question.

“I think it’s really important to reflect, quite frankly, on the state we are in right now, and you’ve heard my remarks, (National Police Chiefs’ Council chairman Martin Hewitt) and (Dr Vin Diwakar, regional medical director for London) comments about the impact of Covid, not just a new variant but all the measures we have put in place and why we need to have these rules.

“Our message is crystal clear – this is to stay at home, and if I may Dr Diwakar has made a very sobering point that we should all act like we have Covid in order to protect others, and this is not about rules being more relaxed, we have clear rules. And I would urge everybody across the country to make sure we follow those rules, so that we can protect the NHS and save lives.

“I think that is absolutely imperative.”

if you are trying to say that white people have the same outcomes as minorities with covid. https://www.ons.gov.uk/peoplepopulationandcommunity/birthsdeathsandmarriages/deaths/articles/updatingethniccontrastsindeathsinvolvingthecoronaviruscovid19englandandwales/24january2020to31march2021

if you are trying to say that minorities have the same take up of vaccines as white people.
    https://www.bmj.com/content/372/bmj.n513
    specifically;

"The most common reasons for hesitancy are concerns about side effects and the long term effects on health, and lack of trust in vaccines, particularly among black respondents. Some have capitalised on these concerns to spread misinformation, adding to the historical mistrust of government and public health bodies that runs deep in some ethnic minority groups.

Trust is eroded by systemic racism and discrimination, previous unethical healthcare research in black populations,under-representation of minorities in health research and vaccine trials, and negative experiences within a culturally insensitive healthcare system. The disregard for non-Christian religious festivals has further undermined trust. Residential segregation, a form of systemic racism, affects health and access to resources to enhance health in multiple ways, creating conditions that amplify mistrust. Segregation is rising in Europe, and in the UK the Bangladeshi and Pakistani communities are the most segregated. Ethnicity intersects with socioeconomic status and educational attainment, accentuating the effects. Access barriers, including location of vaccine delivery and time, are other factors that could aggravate the disparities in uptake.

My point is with regards your Offcomedun comment which you say explains it better than you did, usualy these poor people live in slums and are downtrodden blah blah blah so I was saying when I was a kid in the early 50s times were equally as bad, poor health, no bathrooms, outside toilets etc.

    https://bantamtalk.com/index.php?threads/a-return-to-vp.4771/page-13#post-502970

And with regards your other post : We need to get back on topic so this is my last reply in this thread, I posted this which I think sums up you links : There was an Imam on TV the other week urging
Muslims to take the vaccine as it does not go into the blood stream when injected.
We keep getting told certain ethnic minorities are more prone to catch Covid yet they are the very people who are reluctant to get the jab.

ah i see, I wasn't saying that people now are comparable to then (regardless of race). Poverty as the legal definition isn't the same as poverty 60 years ago! it was far far worse back then! most of that today would be genuinely be a breach of human rights if not criminal. and yes i agree on that point. looks like its just been moved.. sorry admins o_O
