My mum, bless her, went 80 last week. Been cooped up for over a year now. Always out and about but has had to endure a full year of not being able to go out or see her other son who is isolating in London. If you told her, after having both jabs, that she can't go out or see her son I'm pretty sure, after the emotional talks I've had with her, it would finish her off. So please do not tell me that there is no reason for a 70+ to go out.

 

The sad thing about that scenario is you can actually picture it happened as he described.

I'll be honest with you, it's not hard for me to believe that Matt Hancock is utterly useless, and it doesn't take much for me to believe that No10 would be in complete chaos with Carrie wanting the press office to deal with a story about her dog on the day they were deciding on lockdown.

He’s not wrong and I’m a believer in you pay peanuts you get monkeys, MP’s and the PM should have far higher salaries in my opinion. Then people with actual talent may be more incentivised to get into politics. The CEO at my place gets paid more than the PM and we aren’t even private sector.

Johnson or Corbyn and in America Trump or Biden, these should be enough to say something is seriously wrong with our democracies if they’re the cream of the crop.

He actually made an admission today he was up in Durham on police advice due to threats to his family in London that he said he couldn't confirm at the time. Make of that what you will.

 

I didn't think it was as bigger deal as some were making out at the time, now if he was advised to go to away/Durham by the police because of threats to his family I'd suggest most husbands would take that advice very seriously.

 

If that is true the story could have been stopped in its track by saying that at the time and police confirming it

 

Well the evidence he has given today is under oath so if he is lying surely the police will know.

He did say he regrets not detailing this at the time, however as I have never received a death threat to me or my family I wouldn't know how I would react in that situation.

 

By the time the story broke they were back in London so presumably the police had decided the threat had gone

 

Even though it is given under oath it wouldn’t go to court if he lied. It would go to the House of Commons. Not sure when they last did any thing like that

 

Who’s at risk though? All those deemed high risk have already had both vaccines. Most aged 30 upwards will have had at least 1 dose. So who exactly are you “keeping safe”? Under 30s that supposedly do not get ill from this disease, or those that have been vaccinated already.

Sorry Bantam but that’s just silly. All those “at risk” have already had both doses, so even if someone under 30 catches it, who are they going to put in hospital.

You say “as it is not 100% to do so....”, but with this virus now permanently living with us, it will NEVER be 100%

 

Cummings is quite clearly a nasty piece of work and very happy to be twisting the knife into those who have crossed him. But so much of what he had to say yesterday has the ring of truth about it. It backs up what many of us have been saying about the complacency, laziness, dishonesty, appalling judgement, chaos and unprecedented incompetence of Johnson and his chums in government. Many of them are utterly unfit for office.
