I agree entirely, I’m talking about the initiative a few years ago (pre-Rupp). It was well known and advertised at the time that fans could put in extra if they wanted and it would go direct to the playing budget.

    Was this a Rhodes thing?

Look football is very simple. Buy assets then generate revenue on the back of it. Never decrease the value to sponsors or investors.

Rupp doesn’t want to do that. He’s an excuse of an owner! Is he seeking investment? Does he care? Make your own minds up. Mine is made.

if I get some tat that looks nice and potentially helps the club get promoted more power to me, better than sitting here being a miser, moaning about how 'naff' the club, the owner or the CEO are. Sometimes, at the end of the day it's just a fourth tier football club. If we had sheik mansour at the club worth billions then fair enough. but people act like rupp is a fool willing to sell assets for a dawdling L2 side. He cannot just pull £4m from nowhere to plough into a business model that most of the time is used as rich persons plaything.

Speaking of hot water, hope the club has all hot water sorted for ALL areas of supporters. Imagine not having a basic necessity in a covid19 world.

Heck of an own goal if the club get caught out on this one, especially in the media.

Why do we need Sheik Mansour?

Look Rupp isn't a fool for sure but he clearly didn't do his research into what buying a football takes and has found out the hard way. However, now lets not cover it all up and make excuses! He isn't interested and we have to generate money other ways. Rupp has 4m. If its in assets or cash in the bank. He has 4m. He just doesn't care. Fine but don't expect fans then to but money in his pocket.

Rhodes sold the club in faith for Rupp to take forward. He hasn't done that but lets not make out you need a Sheik Mansour to grow a football club in the right way and to take an interest in the City. Bollocks!

Well if my opinion that everyone is making wild assumptions is JUST an opinion, then someone must have evidence that the club wished to increase ST prices in order to bolster the transfer budget?

The fact is, the club is saying the OPPOSITE, which actually makes my opinion a fact; those really are just baseless assumptions.

but if that's not a sound financial investment, what else should he do? You are asking him to do what you wont do. Also you'll be pleased to know over 200 'mugs' have bought into the 1903 club already!

Yes it was during Rhodes tenure . The Mcall fighting fund raised the vast sum of £3000. Just about cover a player for a week.

Jon. As you may have gauged, I voted for a price increase.

With that in mind, I agree with what you write here. Sparks has suggested that the wage budget will decrease. In the width of a post article in April their was an inference that players staying on, would have to on reduced terms. In the same article, promotion is the goal.

So I see an increase in price but a reduction in budget.

But, as I'm sure your aware, success is not based purely on the 11 taking the field each week. Their simply has to be more to it in 2021, doesn't it? A good, greater management team, structured with a greater reliance on science, fitness, coaching, scouting and I'm sure other things I've not considered. Now this costs. So it has to be paid for by its consumers amongst other revenues? Will this happen, I have great hope. Time will provide answers.

I've spoke about reconnect previously. Under Rahic he drove down that connect with the club and fans. Sparks speaks now of fans zone, new seating, match day experience, upgrade of McCall /Hendrie suites and I'm sure an upgrade of other facilities including CONSTANT HOT WATER is all in the pipeline (pun, eh!!) Again, without sounding patronising, this has to have a cost base.

Coupled, Sparks I am hopeful, is creating structure which hopefully creates foundation. If we have positive success on the field and our support base grows, some of our work today may organically grow. Hopefully.

Even if 10k fans pay an average of say £30 extra each, that's only 300k extra income from the support base. Without this money how just do we do the things I outline?

If we don't do it, surely we will continue to stagnate, no regress? Oh we are regressing, year in, year out.
Where does that leave the football club? Something has to change, this may be a positive step in the right direction.

So for myself, the increase is not just about that 11 on the field. That is probably right.

So the club have put the prices up for a laugh then? If it isn't to try and raise revenue then why on earth would they do it?

I'm not saying it's not to 'raise revenue', I'm saying the idea that it will automatically be allocated to the playing budget is a wild, baseless assumption.

Actually what @bantamdave41@bantamdave41 wrote above outlines several much more plausible uses for any extra money.

Very good post, outlining all the potential uses for any additional income. I wouldn't know what the plans for the price increase actually are, but I can bet it's not just 'making the squad more competitive'.

Maybe it will be 'making the club more professional'; personally there's only one individual I feel should be financing that, however, and that's the guy that bought the club.

His sole goal should be to leave the club in a better position on and off the field than when he took over.

So far, it's a miserable failure. If he needs the fans to bail him out, well, that's a sorry state of affairs, but it is what it is.

The update article about 1903 Club says

    - with all proceeds being directly injected into the Bantams’ 2021/22 playing budget!
