New Manager - Welcome Derek Adams

Just on the phone to a fellow poster and we were disusing is it Adams or Parky as a long shot, would Parky want to return and possibly tarnish his previous time at our club, so we tossed a few names about and Micheal Flynn's name got mentioned could he possibly be in the frame.

 

I think Newport's his home town club. That may come into his thinking.

As far as I know so is Adams. But Flynn is a proud Welshman I don’t think he will move up here

I think sparky has done a good job keeping it quiet but if I was a betting man I would still stake my house on Adams

Just had a look on the Morecambes forum site and they are resigning to the fact Adams is off to us.

 

'Maybe Bradford have sold Derek the look howmassive we are and we should be in the Prem league story.'

Spotted this on the Morecambe FC message board. Made me chuckle. They seem to have the measure of us.

One morecambe fan messaged me yesterday saying “Why would Derek go to a club living in the past when he’s a at a club who are only looking upwards and are going far”....they’re having their first half decent season in decades!!!! I’m sorry but we are 300 times bigger than morecambe, even if we are dog sh*t.

 

Yeah but so what? What if they go up? Morecambe v Sheff Weds or Bradford v Barrow?

We might be ‘bigger’ but who’s likely to have more success next season? Where is his professional stock most likely to grow? Where’s he likely to be happier?

If we had our shit together and were prepared to show some ambition then our ‘bigger’ status might carry some sway.

Well you’d like to think we are starting to get our shit together but only time will tell on that, just wish our ‘wealthy’ owner as Sparks called him the other day would pump a sensible amount of money in to get us where we want to be realistically!

As a manager who talks about a three year plan, it's effectively job done at Morecambe. What's the best he can hope for next season? Keeping them up would be something special, but he'd need everything to go right, and chances are, they'll come back down.

Coming to Bradford, I imagine he'll be looking at promotion to League One and then being backed to chase back-to-back promotions like he achieved at Ross County.

Either way, get us to the Championship or establish us as one of the better League One sides, and once his 'three years' at City is up, he'll have quite the CV.
