I may be reading too much into this but he was asked about investment and he said we're investing in the squad and investing in the manager and then said 'don't forget that's an investment too'. That could mean several things...

- we're paying someone a good salary, perhaps better than the average league two manager

- we're paying compensation to someone to secure the manager

- we're going for the new managers targets that are not cheap

- or he was just replying using the same word used in the question - investment

Anyway, it stuck in my mind so thought it was worth mentioning.
