New Manager - Welcome Derek Adams

Adams will know that if Morecambe go up to L1 they haven`t the finance in place to strengthen so will struggle and he could have a sacking on his cv. With us (if it`s him at all) if he comfortably gets us into the play-offs or even better, his Contract will be extended. Plus the prospect of the buzz around Valley Parade with 13-14k supporters in must appeal, as it would to most lower-league Managers.

 

I'm sure Plymouth fans are as expectant and demanding as our fans

 

There won’t be 13-14k in next season, struggle to get 9k unless the team is flying and pushing for the automatic spots

I have a lot of time for the Devon clubs, due to plenty of family holidays in south Devon as a kid (I still have a soft spot to this day for Torquay Utd). Plymouth are a strange one, considerably under supported as their catchment area is huge, but Devon and Cornwall can hardly be considered as hotbeds of sport. Plymouth very much seem to get 7,000-10,000 and that’s it, but I’ve never felt on my visits to Plymouth that it’s a football mad place.

I remember Colin Lee being manager at Torquay and saying that the Devon clubs always struggled to get players to move to the south west. The cost of living / property rent was high and there wasn’t enough “pull” for a young player to relocate like they would be to one of the big cities.

Personally I’d be happy with Adams. He seems a bit Parkinson like. He’ll know if he can get city winning then it’ll have a snow ball effect. I’m sure Plymouth fans are expectant, but they’ve never been in the premier league and they don’t look at their rivals with any jealousy (why would they when it’s Exeter), whereas I don’t accept that we should be happy being 2 below Town and 3 below scum. I’d say our expectation level is higher, for the fact any city fan 30 and over will remember the Premier league days.

 

That wouldn’t make sense. If the bookies absolutely knew anything they’d still have Adams as an option for other clubs so that idiots could bet on it and waste their money.

 

Adams is 2nd favourite for Walsall job, albeit at 8/1, and 14/1 for Tranmere job

 

As you say there are more clubs than us wanting a new manager, surely Derek Adams wouldn't tell Bradford City he would join us after the play offs finish and then go to Tranmere would he .

 

Dave Challinor favourite for Tranmere job, a name I suggested we might be interested in. Excellent win ratio in the National League with Fylde and now Hartlepool

 

Sad as it sounds for a rainy Sunday, I watched Stockport V Torquay in the National league this lunchtime. The quality, skill, intensity and organisation of both teams was way better than anything I saw from City this Season. The National league still has a couple of rounds to go, then the playoffs. If it’s not Derick Adam’s maybe it’s a National league level manager joining us? appreciate lots on here would completely loose their S**t if the massive Bantams employ a lower league coach but Challinor is gaining a good reputation, as are one or two others at that level, Pete Wild anyone?

 

I would quite like us to go for a manager doing well and playing good football in the national league. Certainly worked for Bolton.

 

Morecambe are about that size, so you have to be happy with Adams.

That name rings a bell with regards him being a player at Tranmere, so that would be a big pull for the lad so it makes sense.
