Cup final

Great to see fans back and going mental. not the greatest final but as you say well done Leicester City.

 

It goes to show just how "worthless" the FA Cup has become nowadays. At one point there'd have been a thread long before kick off and not 10-15 minutes after the final whistle.

 

Today was all about the fans.Only 7000 from each club but every one of those Leicester fans will remember today for ever.
The scenes at the end were brilliant.
The players seemed to celebrate differently with fans back.
Makes you realise what we’ve been missing for all this time.

 

I understand that but to the rest of the country, the "magic" of the cup is a thing of the past. Long gone are the days when it was an all day thing on telly.

 

Congratulations Leicester, A real top to bottom family club

 

Was pleased to hear the fans boo the knee, more to come...

 

It's become an irrelevance, I think once fans are back booing could be a regular accourdance, we come to watch a game of football not to watch players "take the knee".

 

Everyone keeps going on about how wonderful the owners of Leicester are. I’m sure their fans were calling for them to leave before they won the league, or am I getting the time line wrong

 

Taking the knee is just a symbol, it's what's behind it that is toxic and insulting...

 

I'd say that applies to the vast amount of football fans, if they aren't achieving they want new owners thinking that changes everything, but as we know that's not always the case.

 

Funny, I said exactly the same to the wife the other day. We used to watch the players having bloody breakfast in the team hotel,, then the cavalcade to the hotel.

The spirit of the cup in that sense has gone, I blame the top clubs tbh. Playing kids against “ lesser” teams demeans the principle!

 

It was one of the few occasions when the telly was taken into the front room. Mum and sister banished from the house, dad and grandad tucking into bottles of beer and me on shandies happy memories

 

That's part of it. But don't forget, in the days when we all watched the whole of Cup Final day from 10am, regardless of who was in it, the Cup Final was the only live football on TV all season. Nowadays, live football is available every day of the week, and that's a massive difference.
Also it's become very tedious seeing the FA Cup winners come from the same half dozen clubs nearly every year in the PL era.
And the Champions League has also overshadowed it. Getting into the top four has become a much bigger deal than winning the FA Cup. Hence the big clubs playing weakened teams until they get to the semi finals.
