Yes I have to agree, it was the clubs fault where we were in December it’s not like we’re the scrappy underdogs going into this league we were well down on where we as a club should expect to be. That wasn’t T & S’ fault and they did well to get us out of the pure dirt, however are we kicking on performance wise? I think Cheltenham were the last team we were better than which is a while ago and a fair few wins ago, too many of the games are drab affairs which we rely on gifts like the most recent example of the worst team in the country Grimsby who had 10 men. We were actually better today than then, but anyone with a brain could see it was such a poor performance that any other team with 11 men on the field would beat us comfortably if we didn’t improve dramatically and that’s what happened.

Even if results have kept us to a decent level performances have nosedived since they became permanent. Fordy was laughed out of the door for suggesting it but just look at the change in mind set, when they first came in they were saying we can beat anyone, we’ll focus on our strengths and the team can go places with some confidence. Since then we’ve heard it was important not to lose against a team below us, and it was important to hold onto the 3 points against the worst team in the league with 10 men. After each scrappy win we hear the same lines about it doesn’t matter as long as we get the win, well in McCalls second spell it proved long term performances do matter, those that perform best are in the top 3/7. It’s a worrying mindset that has leaked onto the pitch imo.

I just hope some fresh faces and a full pre season can see us get some real structure to our play, instead of being hard to beat an hoping for a gift or the ball to just fall at our feet.

I'm sure they have learnt from their mistakes...and can repeat them exactly!

(Not my joke; the great Peter Cook in the "Frog & Peach" sketch.)

I think that we have a mid-to-top-half-table side, which was underperforming, badly. T&S came in and got that side, with some good additions, to overperform and thus i) get us easily to safety, and ii) raise our hopes regarding playoffs and promotion. We are reverting to our side's natural level. That said, we do have a good base on which to build. Get it right in the summer, and we should be a promotion-capable side.

As for T&S, they are young and in their first real job -- real in the sense of it being in the man's game. As such, they are full of book knowledge, but lack the practical experience. Not surprising, perhaps, that they revert to caution and safety, like-for-like subs, etc. What they need to do now is show that they can move on from there. It is, perhaps, too soon to expect them to do that this season. If they don't develop by and over next season, then we will have a problem. But for now, they have done very well indeed.

You ever going to back this 5 years statement up or give reasons why?

Bolton were in worse trouble than us and seem to be heading to div 1.

    Even Wigan might stay up.

So Rupp, Sparks can’t improve the club. We can’t afford to improve off the pitch. Look at a training ground? Buy VP? Build another stadium? Build a decent squad? Get out of div 2.

We you going to factor COVID times into all this?

Sorry but the mistakes Rhodes made with his poor management appointments and basically doing nothing to improve the club off the pitch, Rupp taking his eye of the ball are more costly than Edin.

We have turned in to a 2021 nothing club. Teams not even scared of us in div 2. The likes of Luton overtaking us. It’s a joke! Club is a failure and that’s not on Edin.

I think a dose of reality and perspective is required this morning regarding some fans already questioning T&S.

T&S were tasked initially with halting the rot that had set in under McCall, and they did a fantastic job of doing so.

Shortly after taking the reins, temporary at that stage still, the January window was upon us, and Turnbull brought in a few players that I am sure had already been targeted and discussed with McCall. Canavan aside, and potentially Crankshaw, who I am sure can both do a job in league 1, the players brought in were mainly just average league 2 players, and with these additions, we climbed further away from the relegation spots and established ourselves in upper mid table.

In my opinion the squad we currently have is no better than top 10, and to expect T&S to achieve promotion or even reach the play offs was a tall order this season, and I, along with the likes of Fordy, have always insisted this is the case.

I am fully behind T&S and Turnbull and expect them to get rid of most, if not all, of the out of contract players and add better quality to the squad in the summer.

I don't understand the arrogant view that just because we're Bradford City we should be dicking this league. Size of support, budgets etc don't guarantee success.
Recruiting the right people to the right roles, together with the right structure in place to support them is what the foundations of success look like.
Before T&S took over we had a terrible recruitment infrastructure which has/had left us with a mixed bag of decent, average and poor players.
They'd barely got going before the January window came around. We had a fairly decent window. A lot of the dross was moved out and some decent players came in. Largely down to having Mr Turnbull working behind the scene.
Over the last few months we've improved enormously but we aren't the finished article. I think that if you asked T&S if there was still much to improve they'd agree. But of course they're not going to publicly say so. That would undermine what they're trying to achieve with this squad.
As @River_City_Bantam@River_City_Bantam and @Idlebantam@Idlebantam have already touched on; T&S are young men in their first managerial role. Cut 'em a break. They're still learning but have shown a remarkable maturity so far. As I've said before they've out foxed more experienced managers time and again this season. Some of whom those wanting a change would happily have has their replacement.
This team is top 10 but promotion material? I think we're not ready. We're too light in critical areas but we've the backbone of a good team. A few decent recruits in the summer can easily turn this team into a top 3 team.

I agree with your last paragraph, but did you hear the after match interview? Have to admit I was a bit taken aback by the depressing tone. Understandable - we've just lost to a team who haven't won in eight, but there seemed to be a distinct lack of passion about his tone, and he was certainly going through the motions when quizzed about tactics. Almost as if he was in shock we lost (shock, suprised, hard done by) and was a bit out of answers.

Anyway, it's kind of answered our questions early doors when they took over - "how will they cope when we don't perform?". Seems that they like their drawing board as it is, and aren't too keen to change it. It wasn't til after the match that I knew Crawley were on such a poor run. Made the negative subs and slow pace even harder to understand. I'm of total belief now, that the best way to finish this season is to try and get as many wins as we can. Losing games doesn't make any difference now, but as we saw from last nights results, a win could jump us up several places.

Wolfy the last time we came down we gobbed off how we should not be hear...too masssuf etc etc took us years to get out.
Not trying to worry anyone but take a look at the lower league down some reeeeeet teams in that league. And above us Lincoln/Accrington and Northampton etc

Its going to be a struggle and the only way is money mate... Bolton have gambled and it may pay off

You dont necessarily need to spend big to get out of this league, many teams have managed it on a lot smaller budgets than us, and this season, the likes of Morecambe, Cheltenham and Cambridge are having a right good go without spending big.

It's all about having a good manager or coach in place and recruiting well and then gelling a good team spirit.

For all @wetherbywhaler@wetherbywhaler talks about five years to repair Edin’s damage, there are few if any remnants of his reign left. The last 25 games under T&S have shown the team can win games.

This summer is the time to recruit better players than Evans, Clarke, Watt, Novak, Ismail, Pritchard, Burrell and to finally forget about the worst thing to come from Stuttgart since the original A class Mercedes. Bradford City, its supporters and its staff cannot keep blaming Edin or Geoff Richmond forever. This summer and the following season is the time for Ryan, Conor and Mark to own everything that happens at Bradford City for better or worse.

Cheltenham have played it so well. Well we have be looking for loans like to be fillers. All of Cheltenham's loans have been from the PL and they noticed you need a top keeper. Plus they managed to get good experienced free's like Andy Williams. LEADERS in their team.

    Cambridge signed Hoolahan enough said.

    Morecambe - PUNCHING!!

To get out of this division you need LEADERS & QUALITY! We had it with the Parky side, Doyle proved he's quality for Swindon and now Bolton. Hoolahan is quality.

We lack Leaders and quality. Our loan recruitment was extremely poor and our squad isn't good enough.

Agree with you on the post match interview - it was very downbeat wasnt it? But I also told you a few weeks ago there have been a few mutterings from football people I know (not initially T&S) that we have not quite been getting the key decisions going our way - I told you one scout said because they are 'youngsters' and not particularly demonstrative by nature, that some refs have been a bit 'Billy Bigballs' with them. I think Trueman was definitely of that opinion last night, first time I have heard mention the ref quite a bit in his post match interview. Make of it what you will but the knowing arrogance of some people in football - be it players, coaches, and officials - I think there is something in it

We need to be more bullish and streetwise. That early elbow from Wright last night, the players and managers should have been giving the officials hell and exerting pressure. You need to impose yourself on games in every aspect. We're far too passive.

Wright bossed the game. It was like he knew are a soft touch.

Booked after 3 mins then jogging about with no one near him.

    Our midfield is a joke.

Exactly, both on and off the pitch should have latched on to this - you can bet there are many other League 2 teams who would have been straight in the ref and his officials faces and making sure they knew it should have been a red.
Dont really like saying this is what we should do but this division is not often won by football skills but by a collective unit that knows various ways to win on a football pitch - some skill, pace and also physical dominance is a key at this level, but also mental strength, smartness and 'bossing it' attitude - agree we can be a bit too passive or try to assert ourselves in a way that is not smart enough

What disappoints me most are the comments about being grateful for where we are now compared to December. Yes we were in a perilous position but we’re now almost back on track and should be busting a gut to get into the play offs, not just being grateful we’re safe and hoping to sneak in on 1-0 smash and grabs. We have some decent players here who given the right instruction could rip into most defences given the chance. Does anybody honestly think Bolton are looking back at where they were and thinking job done? Or is their mentality to get to the autos and out at the first attempt?

Even though we’re safe, I can’t help but feel a lot of fans will have frustration and disappointment at the “what if” at the end of the season.

There's a chronic lack of ambition running through this club. Another year of not getting in the playoffs is another year of failure. Simple as that.

Why in anyhing this club does is always 2 steps forward then 10 back. Why does it take decades after some sort of mess to start looking up the table. Yet other clubs in worse state just fly by us.

We've never been ran like professional football EVER.

We’re Bradford City, we should be in the premiership, we’re masssssive, how dare teams like Morecambe beat us, just how very dare they??
I mean let’s sack T&S, I believe Messi is toying with being a player coach, he couldn’t dream of a bigger club to start off with, I mean we have a god given right to be in the premiership, bloody hell it’s unforgivable we’re not in Europe every season......
Geoffrey Richmond didn’t make us overachieve, in fact the opposite he just underachieved a bit less than most!
We need the club sold NOW to an Arab billionaire, in fact we need a Middle Eastern country to fund us, like Man City, we’re miles bigger than them anyway.
And we need to buy a ground, playing in a rented ground makes the player play worse, everyone knows that!!
    Sorry..........,.,,,
Took the day off and went to the pub! Now drinking wine and eating Easter egg.
    Have a good evening all!!

I think @Rcbantam@Rcbantam has a point. We seem to take an age to turn the ship around, whereas your Doncasters, Luton’s, Rotherhams seem able to recover quite quickly. I’m hoping Sparks is the man to finally put the club on an upward trajectory and get us as far up the leagues as possible.
