Hopefully they are left to be preserved, there are a few tacky flags with references on dotted around the stadium, and this "merch" goes hand in hand with those IMO.

 

It's interesting to think that someone can use and make money from, someones name without getting their permission. If there's a mug or hoodie or whatever with a list of 56 names on, and a family member objects to it being used, then that kind of ends the production line (although, the sad thing is, that I doubt 100% of the people buying said mug, would notice there's a few names missing). Surely there must be some legal grounds about using a name without consent? Unless of course, they've contacted the families related to the 56 listed, and got permission. Which I seriously doubt.

 

I'm very uncomfortable with all this.

Unfortunately, 56 died and I feel uncomfortable that some feel they want to make some fashion statement out of it.

 

A burgundy hoodie with number 56 emblazoned across it isn't for me, and I find it a little crass, even though I'm sure the sentiments are totally genuine.
I don't even post memorials to the day on my social media pages anymore..
I just have a quiet reflection to myself each year it comes around ... it's that long ago since I was a 21year old lad stood watching it unfold from the Bradford end.. It seems several lifetimes ago now.

Are the people doing this making any money themselves?

Its a business thats makes branded clothes, charity is a profitable avenue

6000 garments sold? Seems a ridiculously high number for a niche product.

 

Saw this online and it reminded me of this thread, inappropriate ‘memorial’ merchandise

 

For once I'm 100% with you word for word. Shows zero respect and is in bad taste. Same feeling when someone shouts when attending a game with a minutes silence when showing respect for someone has passed away.

 

The ribbon on the shirts is the right sort of remembrance.
I wouldn’t be opposed to a pin badge with funds going to the burns unit.
I’d never wear 56 merch or have it on a water bottle-seems very poor taste
