Maybe the away ifollow pass could be made available to purchase once the away allocation of tickets are sold out. That way there's no loss of income to the home side.

Also, if as some have suggested the away side only, has the option to watch the game on ifollow, what's to stop home fans registering with the away club to get the pass?

Well ok but in any case the home club should get 100% of the income no matter whether fans attend the game in person or virtually.
And as far as illegal streams go, the price could be £5 and some cretins would still search for an illegal stream and pay nothing

The use of a code. That could be linked to your Season Ticket. So unless Home Fans registered with the Away Club and paid a fee, then it wouldn’t be available.
The alternative is to provide an Away Priority Pass like City already has, which for a small fee gives added bonuses. I think the cost was in the region of £25, add that to a £10 i-follow match cost and it would deter most home fans.
If they were that keen, they would probably use illegal methods, far less hassle,

That's a good compromise, along with longer midweek trips maybe.

There is some room for debate but I think anyone expecting a similar approach to this season next year from ifollow will probably be disappointed.

In every other season, i-follow is at matches. My daughter in San Francisco watches all home and away games live, having bought an i-Follow package through the Club. So the ‘cost’ of the service was met by City, prior to the current situation.

That could see the end of ‘pay on the day’ at the gate. A ‘Home club’ could only decide it was ‘sold out’ to ‘Away supporters’ several days prior to the match. That would probably mean they would have to stop selling tickets beforehand, so that i-Follow passes could be sold.

It takes literally 30 seconds to purchase an ifollow pass and load up the game. I'm not really sure why ticket sales would need to stop several days before?

This would probably also only work at the grounds with smaller capacities but as that's been trotted out as a reason we need ifollow then perhaps it's also a good solution to that particular issue.

People would still attend away games even if i follow remains available. Look at the games on Sky, still plenty of away fans attending. Blackburn away for instance when City were playing appalling football just before Easter 2018, the game was live on Sky but still a packed away end. I think i follow could make clubs a lot of money as it has done this season.

Blackburn away was always going to be well attended, simply for the pull of a ground we've not visited in a long time and the attraction of a decent ground with a fairly large crowd.

Swap that with Port Vale away in the same circumstances and on tv. I'd guess that the away following would be around half with the rest not bothering to travel and watching it at home instead.

I still think most City fans who travel away will go anyway and i follow is an untapped source of income which hopefully will be used. We have over 10,000 season ticket holders and the vast majority won’t go away, this is a great way to get these fans to pay to watch on i follow and earn considerable income for the club.

If it works like this season it will be. The first 500 i follow passes that the away team supporters buy go to the home club, after that the away team take £8.50 for every pass bought. City are selling almost 3000 for away games now and getting over £21,000 for each game. It’s great previously untapped money and City are very keen for i follow to continue. In the end it will be down to all the EFL clubs to decide the future of it.

Sorry but you are being naive if you think the majority of EFL clubs will accept the same deal when away fans are allowed to travel.
They’ll want 100% of the ifollow sales and rightly so

I am sure there could be some compromise. I assume that in the past, City made some money when it has sold tickets for away matches? It would very altruistic if they did all the work and the away team took all the profit.

Away teams never have and never will take profits from gate receipts unless it’s a cup game

All this talk of ifollow being available routinely is boring now. This past year has shown us that football is pointless without fans in stadiums. We don’t need to make it easier for fans to stay at home watching on TV, we need to be encouraging fans in stadiums.
Someone mentioned in an earlier post that as a compromise ifollow could be made available when the ground is full.
In that event any proceeds of ifollow sales are kept by the respective club no matter if home or away.

The away team get a handling fee for each ticket that they physically sell. I don't think it's much but they do get something

On tonight's Q&A session Ryan Sparks said we should know what's happening with iFollow, for next season, in the next 4 to 6 weeks.

So are you saying that our ticket office staff work for nothing, selling tickets for Away games? I think you will find that City will charge an Admin fee, how much that is, I am not sure, but I assume it must cover the cost of the staff, overheads and anything like stationary and postage.

Yes. It's trifling - 5% on away ticket sales.
