I just hope we can keep these guys together for as long as possible, even though we are not in the stadiums I now feel a bond with them which has been missing for ages...

What's interesting, is listening to the "other" commentators. They all start off by judging our league position, and sort of think that their team will have the upper hand. Talk about us being a big club going through hard times. Then about ten minutes in, after we've had all the play and taken the game to the oppo, they begin to change their minds and start talking positively about how we are playing. Then after about fifteen minutes, when we've created all the chances, and probably scored, they start talking in disbelief about how we are so low down the league, and we look a real threat. Then, for most of the second half, after we've gone two up, they talk about how we're the best team to come to them this season, that our league position is totally baffling, that the managers we have are doing a great job, and that the team looks so organised. They then start to turn on their own team, highlighting areas of our team that they wished they had, and deflate their own chances of promotion totally. It's really quite amusing.

This is how the oppo players must feel also I think. They approach the game thinking they are going to be the dominant force, only to be on the back foot from the off. Of course, now we're on this great run (we must be at the top of the form table?) things have changed, and the opposition managers and players have started treating us with more respect.

    Long may it continue!

I think his goal threat has in the last few games, but not overall play. He works hard and gets us up the pitch which can’t be underestimated, Reid was vital for us at doing that and to a lesser extent Connolly. I think he’ll be better than both and have more end product he just needs the ball in the right area if he’s going to score more, at times he and the striker have felt a bit isolated in the last couple of games but that’s not to say they aren’t contributing to a win. He’s a player I think we’d notice in a negative way if he wasn’t in the line up.

That said he had a bizarre moment in the first half where he took half the Walsall team on but all within 10 yards of our own box lol!

Hi mods. You deleted my post earlier in this thread for "inappropriate comment". Not complaining necessarily, just checking for the future. Was it the language? Cheers

Anyway, what's everyone drinking tonight ? I'm going for the winning formula of Titus first half, Landlord second. On an umbeaten run with that combo.

You can't pick AOC or give him any praise. He's not been forgiven over a misunderstanding about an armband incident, that happened about 20 zillion matches ago

The fact our defensive upturn has coincided with having a right back that for the first time since Darby's days can actually defend, is of course not relevant ;)

@banbrotam@banbrotam - I think the defensive upturn started when FCD was playing at right back, AOC only moved over after a couple of shaky FCD games. But I take your point, we look even more solid at the back now.

I'm with you AOC looks comfortable where he is, adds that extra height at the back and going forward ( great header yesterday).
If Hossannah returns it will be an interesting call for T&S stick with AOC who doesn't offer the attacking threat Hossannah does but is solid defending, more positive headaches for T& S.

I'd keep AOC. I think we have enough creativity and maybe Hossannah could make an impact as RM sub at times

For the first time in ages I watched us yesterday (I just can't get into watching us on TV with no crowds!!) and thought that the back four was amazing. Light years better than anything we've had since Darby's days and it must surely be the best in this division

AOC can often give some seriously impressive performances, I remember last season when it was basically him holding off wave after wave of Exeter attacks, in a match we somehow won 2-0. And yesterday's was almost as good

To me, it's vital they are all kept together - no matter what division we're in and yes, AOC as a permanent RB is fine by me

Like you, I'm interested in the team - not some controversial incident from months ago

Probably also coincides with the very impressive Canavan. Arguably our best signing since we bought Charlie Wyke.

At last we have another player who has an inspirational 'over my dead body' attitude which is clearly infectious in a positive way (for once, bearing in mind Covid!!) as the team now looks like it takes conceding goals as a personal insult. As opposed to the previous 'it's not my fault boss' that's dominated the last three years

The impressive thing about yesterday was how we dominated the game after they scored

Aoc offers no attacking threat. What games are you watching
