As the games continue to come thick and fast there's a real danger that we start to see burnt out in some of the team.
We've had a fairly settled team now for some weeks and fatigue may be creeping in.
So, do T & S rest a few against so called lesser teams in order to have fresh legs for the battles to come? But the inherent risk is that we disrupt a winning formula.
Or keep going as we are and get as many points on the board now even if that means key players could be unavailable for the sharp end of the season?
We could blow any chance of the play-offs by burning out players now but we may not reach the play-offs if we mess with a winning formula.
It may be too early for this game but is a conundrum that T & S will likely face in the next month.

All that’s true but it’s the same for all teams they all face the same challenge

River City Bantam, do you have any stats on early goals - to-wins stats currently in Lg 2? I always feel so guilty about calling you out, but your grasp and knowledge of the stats is always so bloody brilliant. And for which I'm sure, we ALL very much thank you. Go well.

Every other team is going to be facing exactly the same issues of possible fatigue and burn out now that there are games every Saturday and Tuesday bar a couple of weeks (apart from for Carlisle). It's going to come down to who manages that better, and which teams have the greater strength in depth to cope with it. I feel confident T&S will be totally on this, and will be working hard to make sure we have a plan b, c and d if needed, and with the likes of Staunton, Hossannah and hopefully Novak back in contention in the next few weeks, that gives us some very decent fresh legs to come in when needed.

Agreed Parky but some teams above us haven't had the crap first few months we had. They can afford to gamble on player rotation and possibly dropping points here and there.
As has been well covered on here, for us stand a chance of making the play offs means we virtually have to win every game between now and the end of the normal season. We don't have the luxury of failure.

TBF we now have one of the best squads/off the bench players available to us in League Schmoo. Injuries and suspensions will hit all teams during this crazy run in ( and why the feck haven't the EFL agreed to an extension of our season? Madness) but I think we look better placed than most to overcome the current fixture nonsense.

Mansfield had been a poor run of games before Saturday. They played Morecambe, started well, got in front and shut up shop.

I expect similar on Tuesday. They'll be coming to park the bus and try and squeeze a goal somehow.

We need to start fast and have a plan b and c just in case nothing much is happening.

They were 2 down at Mansfield with 15 mins left and scored 3 to win, 2 down at Carlisle and did the same for a 3-2 win. Scraped through against Southend in the last minute, scored last minute against Barrow and it was well offside.
Nothing to fear from Bolton if we play the whole 90 minutes in the way we can.

I think Bolton will be more open in the way they play which will helps us as long as we can keep Doyle and co in check

Ta! No, sorry; that's something I haven't kept an eye on. I once did look at how often we won/drew/lost due to late goals (75th minute onwards), but I don't remember if that went into a post here or C&B.

I do keep track of results after leading/drawing/trailing at HT and at any point in a match; as a general statement, sides that lead at the half or at any point in a match, tend to win, and vice-versa. I suppose that makes sense: get the lead and you can relax a bit, play with more confidence, and so on; trail and the pressure is on, and you are also in danger of conceding more from having to go for goals. It is, however, a mark of a good side to be able to gain points from losing positions; a really good side, I suppose, won't often find a need to do that!

I don't have the numbers in a collection, only individual season files. And as I look at them, I sense that something is not quite right...so I'll have to doublecheck things before posting some examples.

Win this and it will be the first time 17 years we have won five on the trot. Since Colin Todd's team in 2004.

Formation will stay the same, Just a matter of whether they pick Vernom or Rowe to replace Cook down the middle
