The players park there expensive lease cars there though and in an area where parking is an absolute premium. I do agree with the idea though.

Only in there for cup games, its never had an ounce of effort put into that area. A real waste of an opportunity.

Aye...It’s a long long story. Bit closer to home now....In East Anglia! Had a quick chat with Dave, Broncs earlier.

Anyone seen or heard of my old schooldays mate Ronnie Brown, aka Chris?

    Hope you are all well!

35 years going to games and as I recall, never experienced a fan zone or its type.
Definitely an area, I am interested in. An area modelled around the club, portraying its identity with fellow fans at affordable pricing, could only be good for engagement.

A fan zone would be ace. Instead of spending an hour in the pub before games, I'd spend it in the fan zone having a beer, watching clips of City highlights and hopefully with something to help keep the kids entertained. Money for the club, a better experience for me, and it'd be great to get the atmosphere going too.
Perhaps there's something we could do to make better use of the concourse space available?

Fanzones are something sports in US have been doing for sometime.
Some PL clubs have started to embrace it and as has been noted other sports including rugby.
F1 Grand Prix is really the benchmark. They turn each race into a three day event akin to a festival.
I'm not advocating anything to grand but there's lots the club could do on a budget.

The club ought to buy the old Mecca and turn that into an indoor fanzone before every match. Only problem is the stragglers would cause chaos at the turnstiles come 2.50. At least with the Northampton fan zone you have to gain entry to the ground through the turnstiles to get into it.

The best pre-game experince I've encountered is the tailgate parties they have in the US before football games.
People turn up in the car parks at the stadium hours before kick off and bring booze, food and even bbq's. Car speakers are turned up and you mingle. It's great atomsphere but selling anything is frowned on. It's very much a fan owned thing and is possible because most stadiums have massive car parks. It wouldn't work at VP but would for some of the souless out-of-town stadiums like the Ricoh.

Maximising supporter revenue is another area where we've been behind the curve for a long time, but I think Sparks will address it, and quickly. Interesting to hear him refer to investing in a CRM (customer relationship management) tool in the summer. I implemented one for the company I work for 2 years ago and they're pivotal to optimizing how you engage with and serve your customers. They help to unlock all sorts of opportunity.

For example, I'm fortunate to earn an above average salary, and I have an appetite to invest in quality products that represent value for money. But I put very little into City's coffers because frankly, they haven't done enough to 'sell' to me, or offer value. A CRM would help us to make the most of finding opportunities to sell to supporters like me. It allows you to use things like post code data to estimate the level of wealth/disposable income someone has and offer targeted marketing services. We should be capturing all sorts of information about supporters when STs are purchased. I've only ever once paid for an upgrade to a suite, a few years ago, and it wasn't a great experience. It wasn't worth it. Make it a better experience, make me aware of what's been done to improve the experience, make it personalized and I'd spend more money. The same when it comes to ST prices - it doesn't have to be one size fits all; there are areas of the ground that have better views and are in higher demand. Why not make those prices higher and target those that are more likely to pay higher prices? Supply and demand, just like every other business. I've been to a couple of corporate gigs at premiership clubs and I still get promo material all the time, happy birthday emails, that sort of thing. I get nothing from City.

Lad and myself went to the Italian GP a couple of years back. It was like a tented City . The biggest problem was even that wasn’t big enough. Twice as busy as any football match I’ve been to and I’ve been to few.

We're a diverse population in Bradford and one thing most people have in common is a love of food and drink. We could offer opportunities to local businesses with different cuisines an opportunity to have a small stall in the larger concourse areas, for a fee. Promotion opportunity for them, money for the club, something different for fans beyond stale meat pies.

Out of intetest @Faithful Bantam@Faithful Bantam which CRM tool was it?
I use Hubspot and it's a really easy one to extract the kind of daya you're advocating the club use to improve their targetting of fans.

PEGA - its been the bee's knees for us. Not the cheapest though, probably overkill/too expensive for what City would need. not used HubSpot, but most CRM tools let you do the sort of thing we'd need to do, I'd think.

And under the main stand lends perfectly to that. Like to food stalls at Camden Market. Every cuisine you could imagine. perfect. Just need to extend the concourse out of the Kop to allow that under there.

One spot, a bit small but could easily be covered, is the car park on South Parade behind the main stand.
