The first glimpse of Rowe and Vernam together was very promising. Their awareness of space, choice and weight of pass is very good. Watch how Vernam runs at players - its not random or aimless, he's opening up spaces for others. Verham and Hossanah down the right could be absolutely dynamite. Our forward options are now completely transformed. We aren't far away from being promotion quality. T&S looked to have made a tweak at HT too; we moved the ball quicker and Evans came narrower between the midfield and forward lines, which always gave us an out ball. Cooke continues to shine too, I thought he had a very good game. If we could add a real midfield enforcer with energy and presence (Bahamboula please!) We'd be a match for anyone.

 

How do we get a fit Clarke and Novak in that team not forgetting Hossanah, oh yes and Staunton.

The 2 players who put Morecambe into contention for a top 7 spot are Diagouragou and Songoo. They determined how deep/high they press. The winger (Carlos somebody or other) had something about him too, but otherwise they were functional, organised, direct. Not always pretty on the eye, but you can see why they're effective.

Its such a shame we couldn't assemble this side in the summer, because I think we'd have a shot at top 3. Certainly top 7.

 

We don't. And that's not to be harsh, I just don't see starting roles for Clarke and Novak. I think its a positive that we don't have to rely on Staunton and we can give him room to develop, so that doesn't concern me. And I'd love to see Hossanah in this side. He was the one Ray of quality in mccalls stint and i think he'd link well well Vernam down the right. I'm hoping we can keep him around next season.

 

They were watching a different game to me.

 

Morecambe looked a decent side and made us work for it tonight, but I thought we improved as the first half went on and, in the end, we should have put the game out of sight. Crankshaw, in particular, should have been getting on the end of that driven Rowe pass to the back post.

Delighted we showed the guts to come back from 0-1 down. Anthony O'Connor at right back is an improvement. Canavan is slotting in well.

I think we look solid with Evans on one side of the three and Vernam on the other.

With O'Donnell coming in for Hornby, who needs dropping after another blooper (after costing us a point at Exeter too), and Rowe starting over Cook, we'll be a match for anyone in this league.

 

We've 20 games left, it's not about an 11. Playing most weeks now Sat/Tues/Sat we'll need everyone.

Thought that was a very entertaining match we played some really decent stuff tonight and thought on the whole we looked the better side. Very impressed with O'connor and Canavan but the whole squad played well. Vernham and Rowe look a level above. Exciting times

 

Utter rubbish tonight? I'll leave that review with the contempt it deserves oop:

 

First half was an even game, we could have gone in behind bar AOCs fantastic cover tackle. Second half and a couple of tweaks and we tore them to bits, Vernham attracts defenders, they end up out of position allowing others space. Now we have that outball that we've lacked since Mark Marshall left. That front four of Rowe, Cooke, Evans and Vernham has a bit of everything.

 

The only difference between us and Morecambe is that we've a bit more quality in key positions. Given the same squad as we've got now I doubt Adams would change formation. He is working with the tools at his disposal on probably a much smaller budget than T&S have had this transfer window just gone.

 

Without a doubt. Our summer recruitment really was scandalous when you see the level of quality brought in last month.

 

Morecambe have apparently the lowest wage budget in the league so have to get the best out of what they have

I've seen many worse fourth division games. It was pretty entertaining I thought. Whoever wrote that is a right miserable bugger, I mean who even comments that it was a 7pm match that kicked off 5 minutes late?? Who cares! Just happy I don't have to read that dross every match day.

 

Strange assessment of the match and more than just a bit biased lol Definitely didn't watch the same match as me.

 

With the number of games to come thick and fast, we'll be glad of all players who are fit. Our bench certainly looks stronger than it did a couple of months ago as well.

 

Was Vernam really offside when the ball hit his knee and went in? To be fair, it wasn't the only inaccuracy and he didn't mention any of our passing and movement.
