I didn't hear what Ainsworth said but that doesn't surprise me at all. That's the reality of Championsip football when the playing budgets for most start at around £20m. Those clubs which don't have access to those kinds of funds from their owners don't stay in the Championship very long. There's no way that Wycombe could compete with that even in normal circumstances when Championship clubs receive a generous payout from the PL and EFL TV contracts. The sooner that the EFL gets to grips with a salary cap in the Champonship and the PL restrict parachute payments, the sooner that clubs who don't have the luxury of a wealthy benefactor can compete on a level playing field. Until then, Championship football at VP is nothing but a pipe dream.

But some on here are using the likes of Wycombe to say we don't have to try and raise revenue streams to compete which is utter nonsense. By that logic there would be no correlation between spending and success which there clearly is.

If that’s a dig at me we have shown during the last five years of Rhodes and Lawn and the first of Eden that we can progress at least in the two lower leagues with affordable football. And since then we have had competitive budgets which have been managed badly. I much prefer 14000 gates to 7000 to 8000

Helped by a very successful but completely unexpected LC windfall and the selling of our star striker both of which helped to underpin the playing budget for several seasons. Had we not had that £4m+ and instead relied solely on our cheap ticketing policy, I don't want to think about where we might be now.

Having the same manager there for 9 years also helps continuation just as we had under Parkinson, obviously an owner with a bob of two also helps, a big player budget is not always a necessity if sucsess is built on a season on season basis.

They were the terms that Phil Parkinson was happy to work under, generate income with Cup runs and Julian & Mark would give him all the finacial support they could with a manageable deficit, but if he didnt then one of our assets would have to be sold, unfortunatly it wasnt our success on the pitch that dictated the Wells sale but the player himself.

It is a friendly dig at you. First an foremost Bradford City is a business and should be run like one. No point having 14,000 gate if they're not bringing in their potential revenue. And i'll pretty much guarantee you now there will be a rise in season ticket prices in the future.

An increase in prices was to be expected eventually. It would be nice if we were in a position where demand enabled us to increase prices of season tickets.
I like a lot of supporters thought there was a ceiling of potential support in terms of crowds but I have changed my view and don't really think there is. Obviously the level we are playing at, performances on the pitch and pricing strategy come into it but although not one of the wealthiest Bradfud is a big city with a big catchment area.

I agree. There are certainly other northern towns and cities who have done better than we've done in recent years and that's without the advantage of a large catchment area. A cheap ticketing policy can take you so far but eventually it becomes a millstone and low ticket prices relative to the norm charged by other clubs becomes unsustainable.

I don't expect things to change overnight especially in this environment but I'd expect the start of some kind of marketing or sales campaign to soften us up before higher ST prices are introduced. It's what's needed to take our club forward.

All about timing as are most things in life, as has been posted a few times after our Wembley appearance would have been ideal for a rise in season ticket prices, unfortunately that chance was missed.
I'll pay the going price but I would suggest after what we are going through and our recent (4 seasons) poor times both on and off the pitch it would take a brave man to increase ticket prices, not knowing what the future holds for us.

Well prices will be going up for most things. Bradford City need to increase their prices and do it ASAP.

However, Sparks is brave. Not as if 14k will be allowed back in next season anyway.

    Perfect time.

Yes as I posted "it's all about timing" it would be a brave man to make that call in our present situation and not necessarily football wise, as you say will crowds be allowed back in numbers next season we're only 6 months away from the start of a new season.

As you say if he could have picked a Claret & Amber shirt out that would have been the best option but if not a low hard cross the box was full of players anything could happen, having said that the two subs Stuart made hardly helped Dieng for Law I could understand but for me it should have been Hiwula for Billy Clarke.

It won't be 14k though for us. We will be lucky to have 2-5k in.

Chester Racecourse I talking about doing testing for free to allow up to 5k fans in per day. Bradford City can't afford that.

Prices have to go up now! Its a MUST! Sparks is an idiot if he doesn't increase the prices.

Perfect time for a price rise. Limited attendances next season will limit ticket sales so we can't afford to sell 12,000, which might happen if we end the season well and people think they can get back in next season).

Selling 8,000 at £250 each would raise more than 12,000 at £150 and potentially allow all 8,000 in. We could sell an Ifollow season ticket at a lower price to raise even more from those who wouldn't/ couldn't attend. How many could we sell at £120 spread over 8 months (£15 per month) to the floaters ? That would be really good value. Or an away Ifollow season ticket at the same price ? I would buy that AND a season ticket.

Think 67% is a bit too much. In his interviews, Ryan has indicated he likes the idea of affordable admission which gives him a bit of leeway for increase.

Its still only £20 a season more than a match by match pass on I follow and less than £11 a match.
