How much extra is it then for extending normal season by a couple of weeks? And that probably wouldn’t even change play off dates

£117mill for the PL. Clubs in Europe it was even more as the broadcasters also got a rebate for those as well

What you are forgetting though is it doesn't matter if the likelihood of players getting called up is small. There are agreements that the FA as part of UEFA have to abide by on when any professional match can and can't be played which includes certain windows before and after tournaments. There are a whole host of punishments that English football can be handed down for breaking this INCLUDING exclusion from CL/EL or reduction in the number of qualifiers to them or even the national team getting banned from the Euros or even the World Cup. It's not just an, oh the euros don't impact us, situation so who cares, it impacts the whole of English football because teams in league 2 have somewhat of a reliance on money coming from the PL

Add in every handout the PL gives you if extending the EFL season causes them any negatives such as the Euros being cancelled or punishments handed down for the EFL breaking the agreements the FA have with UEFA. The PL clubs are not going to let you lose them millions and then hand millions over to the EFL still, they are going to say 'Well you went alone so screw you, we are cutting you loose'

The weather alone has called off an unprecedented number of games this season. Last season we only had 1 game called off due to weather, we've already had 4 this season.
Add in an additional 2 matches called off due to Covid and in a shortened season and its a complete disaster.

What I find disappointing is the complete lack of a proactive approach by the EFL to get games played considering the circumstances. Are the Crawley, Stevenage and Leyton Orient pitches also frozen currently? Can they not host games this weekend even if at short notice?
We played no games for 4 weeks, we should've been bringing other fixtures forward and getting games played in that time. Spurs have shown that that is doable this season.

I really do not know how Carlisle are going to get the games played. They are going to have to play 23 games in 83 days, thats a game every 3.6 days. Just one more postponement for them and that becomes impossible

I reckon an agreement could be got extending it by a couple of weeks, maybe not even moving play off dates especially if fans are still not allowed in.

Also it's highly likely that the tv contracts when up for renewal will bring in less money than before breaking contracts just won't help matters.

The PL and EFL just won't want to but more power to the tv companies.

I think the 117M was on the TV rebates. If you take in the matchday revenues then 300M is not that unrealistic.

I am no expert in these matters, but if I am hearing it right. The evil football super rich powers and their shadowy TV oligarch counterparts are forging ahead with their dastardly master plans, despite terrorist threats, soaring heat in a never heard of until now country, and a little thing called COVID, to get their evil ways and host dark-side sporting events, and stop the EFL extending the season and playing all its games, and to achieve their ultimate cowardly masterplan, to sink BCFC into oblivion.

We must get the PFA to employ its undercover trained agents against this plot now, and to awaken its assassin sleepers in the UEFA and world-wide governments, that is what I say.

Sorry - I have had a few and getting a bit bored

Not sure if you have a midget with you tonight or banged your head but you are not with it.

I said every PL club lost about 10.7% times it by 20 based on Chelsea's 16m. It's 330m.

Hope you are ok? If you need help with the midget then let me know.

ah, so you were just making numbers up. Using one team and multiplying by 20. Probably a different figure if you had used the team who came 20th and multiplied

I haven't looked into what deals the Chelsea figure included, that £117m was just the money handed back to Sky/BT and clubs didn't shoulder than equally. It was based on which matches would have been TV games. Chelsea were one of the higher impacted teams whereas those that don't even get enough live games to have the minimum number of games they get paid for lost relatively nothing. Chelsea figure may also include European money and also PL international deals (As many international broadcasters were pissed because games were being spread out meaning some games that would have got decent audiences in the slot they would have been in were in bad timeslots and got low viewing figures while less appealing games were the games in the prime slots)

Is a couple of extra weeks enough though. I think its safe to say there will be more postponements, just having to have played on pitches so many times in such a short space of time makes the weather postponements more likely as the pitches haven't had time to recover so will be in worse shape and more dangerous in bad weather and thats if there are no more COVID postponements. I certainly would be surprised to see Salford have Tuesday game called off, it's going to be warmer but is due for heavy rain and wasn't one of their called off for a waterlogged pitch already?

Damn it, you'd have had a few QAnon's saying hallelujah if you hadn't messed up with that last line.

If things continue as they are the EFL won't have any other option than to extend the season I believe I read on TB somewhere teams are having to play 3 games in 11 days that's not sustainable over the next 20+ games or so.

I can’t believe that UEFA are going to lose too much sleep over Forest Green v Salford or Newport v Scunthorpe taking too much of an audience share if the season is extended and it clashes with the Euros. Most people in England will struggle to point to those four teams on a map let alone the viewers across Europe and the RoW. With Covid there has to be a degree of pragmatism from all.

Easy solution. Thr efl just agrees now to wipe out 6 games for each club, irrespective of who they play. Just remove the last three home and last three away games and make it a 40 game season. Some will benefit some will lose but its better than risking serious injury to an over extended player.

Needs must. Carry on with the postponed games and it could be a necessity
