We signed players in the last few hours but for me they look the right type of players. Pace skilful and an eye for a goal. Those type of players command fees later down the line if they do well in this league.
None of it has felt panicked or someone offering us a journeyman or a player just wanting a few games out on loan like Butterfield before.
    These are players of potential.

it will be good to see a city side with pace and skill for a change. Can’t wait.
Kudos to all for the window. Good on paper let’s hope they compliment what we’ve got and we keep this run going

This window isn't really an 'if carlesburg did' kind of one, its more a kind of if 'timmy taylors did transfer windows' kind of one

According to Parker we turned down the chance to sign Maddison.

Vernam looks a good signing, not sure about the other lad to be honest - definitely the right positions that were reinforced, though.

What's interesting to me is the number of players we've signed this window who have progressed from non league.

Rowe and Cook are obviously very well known and experienced graduates of the non league system, but Crankshaw is relatively new to the football league, Huffer (while purely back up) is a legit non-leaguer, and even Vernam has a little bit of non league experience while out on loan. One of the other lads, Foulds, has zero league experience as well.

None of them feel like big-time signings, but appropriate signings for the division we're in. Almost all have been well received, and that's probably a combination of most of them having made an impression at a similar level in recent years without ever having been exposed as not good enough at a higher level.

You can't help but feel Turnbull must be largely responsible for identifying these lads, as they're nothing like previous targets in prior windows.

    Bang on.

We have effectively got two sides now and that must bode well for when the next injuries hit or when we have a tough Saturday game and are then back out on the Tuesday. Looking at the last XI and the new players and players on the way back from injury, we have plenty of options now..

    Last XI

    Hornby
    Wood
    AOC
    POC
    FCD
    Watt
    Sutton
    Evans
    Cooke
    Clarke
    Rowe

Others who didn't start last game but who T&S have at their disposal now (some when they are fit again)

    O'Donnell/Huffer
    Staunton
    Hosannah
    Canavan
    Foulds
    Sikora
    Pritchard
    Stevens
    Crankshaw
    Vernam
    Burrell
    Donaldson
    Cook
    Novak

Then there are Scales, Shanks, Ismail as well.

Agreed I never understood what some on here and social media saw in him, he had a fantastic game against us when Peterborough destroyed us Boxing Day a few year ago. But every other time I’ve seen him he always seems lazy with a chip on his shoulder, and is now being passed from club to club because Peterborough were once trying to flog him for millions to the championship with no takers. Bradley Dack was arguably behind him when they were both in League one, look at the difference now. No doubt he’s got ability, but someone like that ends up bottom half of league two for a reason.

I get that Bolton will be excited to pick up a player of legitimate reputation who has the stats to back up the hype, but while there's a chance he can turn provider for Doyle and forge an outstanding partnership with Sarcevic, I just can't get our worst ever team out of my head: Jack Payne, Jacob Butterfield, Eoin Doyle, Sean Scannell, that could have been the best quadrant in League One. Actually, it was the worst, because the balance was awful, Butterfield phoned it in, Doyle and Scannell had all the pace and determination of a salted slug, and poor Payne scored 9 goals from midfield while being unable to come close to controlling a game of football.

There are some pretty clear parallels between that god awful Bradford City side and the current Bolton team - I hope for their sake Hurst doesn't turn Grimsby around, and Southend continue to lose in gutsy fashion or the decision to sign a failing mercenary like Maddison could blow up in their faces.

That they're relying on Evatt to get the best out of him isn't a good look from here...

Well done to all staff who have put in the hours and worked behind the scenes this window.
I look forward to watching the fruits of your labour in the coming months with a new found optermistic enthusiasm for the second half of the season and beyond.

There's definitely something not right there attitude wise. Ability wise be should be playing championship football. A family member of the missus has just left Peterborough academy. When we go down to visit, I regularly ask him about certain players at the club and what they're like. Asked about Maddison and was told he's a very odd character, very introverted and doesn't bond well with others.

Crankshaw has played 24 this season and Vernam has played 16. Not sure how many have been sub but they've both certainly been involved.

Vernam made 11 starts, Crankshaw was a sub all but three times for both Wigan and Dundee.

But let's be honest, Crankshaw is going to be a sub most of the time for us unless he breaks into the team with some inspired form.

Both sets of fans thought he was decent as well and he is here for a while so probably start as an impact sub and be first choice next season

Not sure about your projection for next season, but it doesn't really matter. You're right, he's likely here as a sub, and if he's rated highly as a sub, that's a good thing.

I'm a believer that you don't want a 90 minute man coming on as a sub.

Question for @wetherbywhaler@wetherbywhaler - I'm impressed that the lads who have been released have signed deals with other clubs the following day or two.

Has someone helped these lads find clubs, or have we just been honest with them, had a private chat, and told them they're free to leave if they can find a contract elsewhere otherwise they can stay?

Either way, I admire this very much from Bradford City.

There's a lot of talk about how ruthless we've been in trimming the fat, but I'm really happy to see these lads get deals elsewhere and I think that narrative is both negative and nonsense.

    Interested to hear.

We will see we have plenty of options some would say spoilt for choice. It would be a mistake though to make to many changes straight away from a winning team
