So the word is if McAleny scores 2 more goals we have to pay him a large bonus. That would account for why he wasn’t allowed to take the penalty, and why he was fuming when taken off. Guarantee that was his last game for us #oafc
Apparently Kewell tried to carm him down.
Other fans saying he's played is last game for them.

If that's true and he really is just 2 goals away from a large bonus that they don't want to pay out on, it begs the question why he played today at all. What would they have done if he'd scored in the first couple of minutes? Subbed him off on 3 minutes?

 

I really struggle to believe that. It doesn't make any sense. He's clearly going to score two more goals before the season is over. If the club didn't want to pay him the bonus they wouldn't play him and they'd sell him. We have previously seen players exiled to the reserves to prevent bonuses and extension being triggered. The fact McAleny is still starting games puts paid to any idea that we don't want him to score in order not to trigger a bonus payment

 

Maybe, but a lot of your fans though seem to think he was furious at not taking it and being taken off today. It'll be an interesting few weeks in the window to see what happens.

Would like to hear from the club how exactly Novak got this 'injury'.
He last played against Port Vale on 29th December so do we presume that this is a training injury?
Would be nice if the fans were told of the situation - what the injury is and how long do they expect him to be unavailable.

Paul Mullin only signed a 1 year deal at Cambridge. Maybe he’s available, for a fee? Feels a bit lazy, if we go for him. I think I’d prefer McAleny.

 

Likewise. McAleny can play upfront or on the left and already has a good understanding with Rowe. Mullin hasn't impressed me at all in the two games against Cambridge.
