I was very sceptical when Ryan Sparks became CEO of the football club but actually I'm really surprised how he's gone about his business.
It would appear from the outside looking in that he comes across in the media as a very shrewd individual.
Rebuilding will take years but at this moment in time his professional and calculated manner will stand us in good stead going forward, let's face it Ryan Sparks is a million times more transparent than what we've become accustomed to and his application to detail is refreshing.
Perhaps the small shoots of Bantam progressivism are starting to appear again and we can look forward to better times under a new direction both on and off the field of play.
    Regards Optermistic Bantam.

Why the sudden change of direction from the owner? Hopefully preparing for a sale cannot think of another reason. Any ideas?

I think it’s because of the McBurnie windfall

Didn't we get 250k from our share of the covid money from the Premier league.

Maybe because the salary cap means we haven't been able to spend the full £2.5 mill we normally would on wages, leaving surplus in the budget

I too was a bit underwhelmed by this appointment but he's proved me wrong so far. Spotted the problems and has started to fix them. This is already starting to shape up into a promotion squad.

Admittedly I was extremely critical of the appointment and then the extension of McCall’s contract nearly sent me into an early grave. But the signs since his sacking have been positive, I don’t think we’ve turned the corner yet it’s too early to say that but it’s looking a lot better than 6 weeks ago which is a good start. Actually feel there’s a plan in place now which many of us were calling for, for a number of years. So fair play to Sparks for that, happily admit when I think I’ve got stuff wrong!

Is it a change of direction from the owner, or was he always willing to do/fund this but the people running the club on a day to day basis (i.e. Rhodes off the pitch and McCall on it) thought they knew better?

Improvement perhaps but it amazes how people get positive about a poor position when we don't play games! Let's review again at end of February when we have played games and seen whether the new players are better than those they replaced?

As happy as I am with the transfer window so far, a little part of me is concerned that getting the new recruits integrated into the team whilst still getting points on the board, could take time. Time we don’t have to waste because the gap to the trap door is very small.

True and it starts with a very tough fixture on Saturday against a team sitting top of the league. Followed by another long away day to the bottom team who despite losing to Cambridge have improved lately

Hopefully after so many weeks without a game the lads will be well up for this one. Weather forecast has changed since yesterday and looks a lot more promising so fingers crossed, we will have a game to watch this Saturday at last!

Sparks is still a neutral for me.

The good feeling around the club has to resonate on and off the field, to which positive seedlings have spouted. Naturally this will take time but key decisions such as the management team, are still to be concluded.

As I said at his appointment, I wish him well but all this love in for him, is a little premature, IMO.

The pleasing thing for me is the way Ryan has started to rebuild the infrastructure. I've listened to a couple of his recent interviews and he's clearly stated we were lacking in certain areas, such as the ability to recruit well. So, he's under no illusions about the shortcomings at BCFC
The trouble with things like putting the right people in place behind the scenes, is that doesn't always translate into instant results on the field. But it will hopefully it will pay off in the long term and make us a stronger club.
I think Rupp is happy to back Sparks. After all, why promote him into the most senior role at the club and not back him? That doesn't make any sense. And if stops us being a basket case then the pay off for Rupp will be either he'll start to see something back for his investment and/or he can sell the club for a decent wedge.

You can only judge him on what he has done so far. And it’s all positive. Of course over time it will be results that he is judged on. Getting safe this season promotion next

As I've mentioned in the 'Relegation Risk' thread, the trapdoor may be about to disappear.

Not that we should let that distract us. Until the risk of relegation disappears, one way or another, collecting enough points, to stay up, remains the first priority.

He has appointed a director of recruitment which by most people’s reckoning has been good so far probably a first of January he has also brought Alan Nevison back to make sure we don’t miss out on young talent in the area. And he hasn’t done what previous owners and CEO’s have done by appointing a manager for the sake of it even if they are not convinced any were right for us.
On top of that people wanted communication from the club that has improved 100%
