Think a lot of these new guys will be raring to go. Hoping we get a striker in by Friday too.

Medley above Guthrie purely for that volley against Wrexham.

Harsh on Topp. He wasnt as bad as Guthrie either!!!

He is correct. City have done better on points per game with Novak in the side. Without we are dreadful.

17pts from 12 games with Novak.
7pts from 9 games without Novak.
His goals are directly responsible for 11pts this season. Almost half our tally!

The new men have done well, but Novak in the team is no coincidence. Without Novak we pose little goal threat.

We need another striker to give us options. Donaldson, Clarke and the rookie simply isnt enough and asking for trouble.

Mmm I recall Sparks informing of an exciting transfer window and Vaughan would be staying.

Said it last February just before he was sacked.

Could we see AOC leave this window? He’s currently playing the left centre halve and on form is behind POC. I’d imagine he’s one of the highest earners at the club and to be honest, is prone to relapsing into the head down, couldn’t give a toss player we know he can be,

Are you sure? I think @Briggus@Briggus is correct to question you.

“The 6ft 3in striker cut his teeth in non-league football, before going on to play for Forest Green Rovers and Colchester United, and it was his presence and goalscoring ability manager Gary Bowyer pointed to after completing the signing, as well as his work-rate”. https://www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/sport/football/international-football/bradford-city-leave-it-last-minute-complete-striker-overhaul-1743244

Also “Gary Bowyer signed two strikers yesterday – Lee Novak from Scunthorpe and Stevenage’s Kurtis Guthrie.

The late capture of 6ft 3in Guthrie just before the 11pm cut-off point came as a surprise to fans.

But the 26-year-old revealed that he had been on Bowyer’s radar before.

Guthrie said: “I had the pleasure of speaking with him before a few years ago.

“I was close to joining the team he was at but it just didn’t happen.

“It’s all come at the right time really. I was ready to move on and he was interested in taking me”.
    https://www.thetelegraphandargus.co.uk/sport/18203989.bantams-wait-all-clear-third-capture/

What is more surprising is City agreeing to the signings, then sacking him a few hours later!

I would have said yes if Staunton wasn't injured, however with our position still being precarious, I'd say we need all the depth we can get. Expect him to move on though at the end of the season. Expect Sikora will be given an improved deal and free up wages for elsewhere in the team.

I still maintain that Topp was better than most of our side. I remember being there for his debut vs Hereford. He came on, and within five mins, he'd shown some fast feet, and he played a beauty of a ball inside their full back, which our left winger (I'm thinking maybe it was Kyle Nix) just didn't read at all. Next game, he's thumping the bar with an overhead kick. The whole situation with him was weird, with Stuart obv not wanting to sign him, but the club getting behind him with "novelty" headwear and t shirts. Then there was some strange delay in him coming over here, and then we found out that he's got some rare medical condition. Then he left and ended up playing with our "feeder" club over in Belgium - which was all a bit of a mystery anyway.

No mystery with Guthrie - he's just sh1t!

Shows that enough was enough and we had to change the structure at VP. We all realise the need to introduce more quality, but working on the basics with what we had already in the building, has shown improved results. Therefore should we be able to add further quality I believe the Coach's will improve their chances of delivering for us.

Will history repeat itself? Will we sack the interim managers after they've worked with Turnbull to recruit multiple new players...?

What an utter disaster that would be!

It is noticeable that apart from Canavan so far all of their signings are only here until the end of the season.

One player on loan until the end of the season and 2 players who are basically playing for a new contract, there's nothing wrong with that.

Like it or not under Trueman and Sellars we have been more solid at the back due to the POC/AOC partnership, not just due to Paudie's form, as good as it has been.

It is noticeable, yes, though there are two concerns beyond that: one, we need a replacement for Guthrie, hopefully that will be someone who can do a job beyond just the Summer, and two, we actually want this window to pay off and not end up with another manager coming in once it's closed.

So while you're right about lower risk players, the interim situation remains potentially problematic.

Let's not fall into old traps - especially of our own making.

I'd quite like to see T&S given to the end of the season given most fans are accepting of them right now. I know it's weird having a manager who was playing for Silsden and Thackley a couple of years ago, but it's actually got support.

I think there will be a good take up if mass vaccination has taken place. The same with the economy, the relief and feel good factor will kick in, those still in work will be spending. For me and many people I know who are missing a beer (or coffee) and the footy fix. Even the L***s fans and dog botherers that I work with are saying the same.

That's because survival is the priority, any ambition will be set out once we have achieved that.

I totally agree . People still lucky to be in employment, will be attending live events like crazy, once we are free of this vile infection. Football could actually get a boost similar to the post war era. City just need to play their cards right.

Anyone who can spend time away from the treatment room and score a goal now and then will be a more than adequate replacement.
