I think we've established Guthrie is the worst centre forward we've ever had, ever. What we need to establish now is which muppet bought him (for a fee as well) because Gary Bowyer has publicly denied it was him.

 

I agree. No transfer is a guarantee, but what I would say is that there looks to be an element of control and planning at play that we’ve not seen for a while. BRE leaves and within a day, Canavan is confirmed. We need pace and width, we’ve brought in a winger as one of our first signings. Samuels leaves and is immediately replaced by Burrell - a similar player but one who at least on paper looks to be more ready for first team football.

It’s not reactionary, or desperate, or last minute, like it usually is.

Obviously never got to see him play in the flesh, so to speak, but the big takeaway from the myriad comments was his "lethargic" approach to playing. The comments after his appearance against his former club seemed to be pretty much universal in condemnation for a complete and utter lack of effort. So I have no idea about his "ability" but the "application" seems to have been less than stellar.

At least Medley scored a goal. Not only that but it earned us a point. All Guthrie has done is end our attacks by giving free kicks away.

Spencer Weir-Daley was another shockingly poor striker. Another Rhodes quality signing!

To be honest, I don't have much doubt that we'll sign a striker to replace Guthrie - then we'll likely have strengthened. But until that happens, it's premature to celebrate the success of a window based on quantity rather than quality.

 

I call that depressing given that previous business or lack of it has put is in this position. Given this 9k fans committed to a season ticket and were promised incomings to strengthen and now our ambition is survival - it will he interesting to see what the marketing angle be when the want renewals for next season especially if we are only given another handful of wins and just survive.

 

I have not seen that - USG - where and when did he say it?

 

These two were not responsible for that neither was Sparks they took over when things look desperate the brief then was to make sure we are safe anything else now is a bonus. If fans see this improvement continue I am sure we will get a good take up
