The question to be asked is of the club.

'You put an enormous amount of effort into clearing the pitch to make it playable. Why didn't you also clear the area around the ground as you're expected to do so that it met the EFL's requirements and avoid the game being postponed?'

    Exactly
Very poor decision to cancel when you consider the advanced weather forecast most people got to work yesterday and today the snow is melting

Maybe the rules don't apply to Avenue with them being in the National League North ?.

BPA is off Broncs. Looking at the images it was never on, just as bad as Harrogate that were shown on Tele last night.

I don't think it's unreasonable to expect some kind of recognition from the EFL that they got this one wrong. I won't hold my breath waiting for it though.

But thats because of a frozen pitch, not because of external weather factors. Our pitch is fine.

I'm guessing if they did make efforts to clear outside and some sort of accident did happen then the club are culpable whereas the finger of blame would lie soley with the council and i suspect any sort of insurance claims. Hypothtical situation i admit.

And even then, the club had 24 hours to do something about it. None of it makes sense to me, it seems that the entire thought process for a decision on our game was different to everyone else in the country.

The club would only have a responsibility for anything that happened on their land. It would be like you clearing a track across snow on the pavement outside your house for a car to cross and a member of the public slipping on that section.

Apparently, ‘Under the Highways Act 1980, the highway authority responsible for a particular area (which is usually the local council) has a duty to ensure, as far as is reasonably practicable, that snow or ice on pavements and roads does not cause a danger to members of the public.

The term ‘reasonably practicable’ is the key point of this legislation and duty placed on local councils. This means that a council cannot be held liable for all accidents caused by ice on pavements within their jurisdiction’.

I think it is the EFL and who they consulted with, who are the laughing stock! The Safety Advisory Group, should have a spokesperson who clarifies what criteria was employed, given the forecast on both the Met Office and BBC. As far as I am aware the club wanted the game to go ahead. The referee had agreed the pitch was absolutely fine, but he had consulted with ‘unnamed’ individuals or an organisation who had made the decision.
The EFL and the SAG are the ones who should be accountable, and explain their decision in a coherent manner.

Had the club not made the effort to clear the pitch, the EFL would’ve kicked off. We should put a claim in to recover the costs spent in trying to get this on. Also, if the ref has no say on conditions outside the stadium, why did he mention it in his report? They have an advisory group for that...poor by the EFL

Given the forecast and todays weather (where the three inches of snow we had on our road has now completely gone) and the pitch being playable, someone's head needs to roll for this postponement.

Its probably the most unnecessary and premature postponement in the entire history of premature and unnecessary postponements
