Well some were nearly right about the back up keeper.

 

Yes my dripping nose failed to tell me he was no longer on Leeds books.
I'm happy with what he told me said Huffer was rated by Leeds.

I'm very worried about the goalkeeper situation. Hornby has never looked assured in the cup games. He'll make 2 or 3 saves and raises hopes, followed by letting in simple goals. And the back up is a reserve at Avenue who's played one cup game!

It reminds me of the time Edin had 2 back up, German goalies. When Doyle got injured they started shipping goals, were dropped/swapped and the defence lost all confidence. That let led into the winless streak losing McCall his job.

After the end of this window, we're stuck with the hand we've played. Back then we slipped to 6th. We're currently 4 points off relegation with no margin for error.

I hope the manager's faith in Hornby is justified and not simply a case of weak management. That is, not taking the decision to bring in a more experienced goalie for fear of upsetting the understudy. I hope my fears are unfounded.

 

I think you make some fair points there....... we've until 1st February to find out and reinforce again if needed.

 

Yeah I had this debate with someone on the transfers thread. It’s a strange one as most don’t think Huffer will play if Hornby is injured. Seems pointless.

 

I'd rather have a goalkeeper on the bench if Hornby went off injured.

It's okay saying shove a youth keeper in there, but the first time GSK played a first team friendly he let in 7, didn't he?
