Perhaps we haven't signed a recruitment manager because we haven't got a recruitment manager ?

I don’t envy Sparks now tbh, if he’d have made an appointment within the first week he wouldn’t be in this almost no win situation now. If he keeps Trueman on and it goes wrong fans will say he should have brought an experienced man in straight away, if we bring someone else in all it’ll take is a few loses for people to say he should have gone with Trueman. This is why dilly dallying and having a wait and see approach doesn’t work in football, the only way he can win is if we keep winning which is unlikely long term with this squad.

We'll never know unless they get their chance, they seem to be very thorough in what they do according to Elliot Watt in his post-match comment, https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/p092j10x the work they are putting in behind the scenes, Elliot getting clips sent through on a Friday night about midfield players in the opposition team and what to expect from them.

Just catching up on EFL Quest.First off Tranmere should have scored early doors a bit slack defending by City. After the highlights Clinton Morrison supported the caretaker managers to take over, the other pundits also agreed . My view it’s difficult but worth a gamble and they will get full support from the players. We do need to strengthen though.

So we're going all in on the Rahic model then? Will certainly keep any established managers from wanting to join us for the foreseeable so we will be free to keep promoting novices from within

Happy to stick with these guys as I like their attitude. They could be new Cowley Bros. I worry about the impact on the u18's and academy and their ability to recruit good players now and in the summer? IF we get a capable DoF to work alongside them (or this mythical Lee Turnbull) then great.

Because it appears they have now a set up dealing with transfers and the two coaches already know the strength ad weaknesses of the players we have and will enable to decide whether to offer contracts to hem they already probably have a better incite than anyone coming in.

I have just read the Grimsby fan's forum where there is a claim that their club's directors have approached Hurst and want a new manager in place before 2nd January.

I can understand some of the miserable, negative comments on here a couple of weeks ago and before (I posted some of them!) but ffs cheer up a bit - in the last days of Stuart is was total desolation surrounding the club and we now have a situation where we are moving forwards, a choice to make as to who is going to be best to sustain this up turn, strengthen the team in January and then more substantially in the summer. We have 2 very positive options (T&S or a more established manager) and Ryan has a tough choice - but not one based on desperation.

Some on here ALWAYS look for the negatives, even when the sun is shining

It’s a predicament - a positive one, but a predicament nonetheless. There’s a world of difference between a caretaker role and a permanent tenure. We need to make a call soon though, we need to move into January with some certainty. I’m still of the view that the best move is to go with Hurst, with Trueman and Sellers moving back to their academy coaching roles. But there needs to be some consideration as to whether they’re willing to do that, and the extent to which the Players want to continue with Trueman and Sellers. Sometimes, it just works - and they’re now both in the shop window. If they’ve had enough of a taste of the hot seat, who’s to say that another League 2 club wouldn’t be happy to give them a shot?

Either way, it needs a call making. We can’t just drift along, going with the flow of whatever the next result leads us to.

Hurst failed at his last 2 clubs, not getting why so many prefer him to Trueman and Sellars just because he is experienced?

I don't think Rahic was the first CEO in the history of the EFL to have a team behind the scenes solely responsible for identifying players. I think a DoF and a recruitment team is a good move for the club. If it scares a few dinosaurs away so be it. Modern managers with a modern outlook is what we should be looking out for now.

Idle, I think (rightly or wrongly) a lot of the support for Hurst is because many think he (and his recruitment manager) are a better option for getting the players into the club this Jan and next summer. If its getting some life out of the current players and giving them a structure (and weeding out some of the chaff) then no one can dispute T&S are deserving of the roll - the key reservation I am certain is what happens when the bubble bursts, but in my eyes this applies to every manager

Maybe if it is Hurst as @The Original EB@The Original EB says Grimsby are also in for Hurst he might jump ship if we are making him hang on with regards the new managerial position, he would have every right to make that call.
I said give T&S until the Tranmere game even if Hurst had been named, would giving them the next two home games be detrimental I get your point with regards "going with the flow" but the way they are going and the respect the player obviously have for the two I can see Ryan delaying the call.

We can't keep delaying. Either give them the job or appoint someone else. Needs resolving one way or another by the opening of the window so whoever it is gets in the players they want.

Most managers have at least one failure on their CV. At this point, I favour going with a more experienced and proven manager. I think Hurst would be a good appointment, but its far from a certainty that he’ll succeed. And whilst I wouldn’t favour Trueman and Sellers getting it just yet, if that’s the route we go down then I’ll be behind it and I wouldn’t be displeased. I just think its dangerous to place too much emphasis on their capability on the basis of the handful of caretaker games they’ve overseen, however well they’ve done.

Whichever way we go though, a decision needs making so we can go into January with the best chance of recruiting to our needs as possible.

If its experience we go for, I would prefer Derek Adams at Morecambe. He has a promotion from this league on his cv, and is currently doing a fantastic job with perennial strugglers Morecambe. I believe we have shown an interest in him, how far that went or is going, I'm not sure.
