Whoever we appoint is a risk. Personally, I see appointing a manager who's had 4 games as a first team manager is too big a risk to take given our league position. Forget the playoff talk nonsense, we're still a bottom half league two team. We can't get ahead of ourselves because we've seen in December 2018 that a shite team can look like a good one over the course of a few weeks.

We still don't know how Trueman will handle adversity and a poor run of form - he might be great, he might be bad, we don't know. 4 games is too small a sample size. We also don't know his capabilities in the transfer window or his ability in judging a player. We can rule out the model of Turnbull solely recruiting players - Sparks has already said that gone are the days where someone other than the manager will be signing the players. Turnbull will be here to assist in scouting but the manager will still be the one signing off. Again, its too big a gamble for me to have a novice in charge of the upcoming window, which if it goes the way of previous window's, could be a disaster.

I'm not trying to belittle the job they have done, because its been fantastic and has built solid foundations. But now is a time for rational thinking and taking everything into account. The last thing we need is Sparks to think that he's won the lottery with these two. If he has already settled on Hurst, as rumoured, then he needs to stick with that decision and not let these results influence him.

If Trueman and Sellers portray any semblance of professionalism behind the scenes then I don't see how they don't get the job here. They've done everything we could possibly have wanted.

It's not like we're comparing them to Mourinho. I wasn't completely sold on Hurst to start with - not against him by any means but its not like appointing him is a once in a life time opportunity.

Obviously it will be interesting to see what they do when they go on a bad run or through a transfer window but we can't leg it drag on until we've seen every variable.

Not getting this lacking in experience stuff. If this is what they can do whilst being inexperienced imagine where they could take us when they get experienced. Whatever that is defined as.

They sound methodical, meticulous and demanding. That isn't inexperience, that's leadership.

I pray to god that Ryan has now blocked you on his phone.

    Ok, it's like this:

    McCall was bad.
Whoever took over from McCall would improve things in the short term. Anyone on here could! That's how bad McCall was.
Trueman is doing well but unless Ryan is going to announce this real strong back team will a DOF, recruitment team etc then it can't be him.
We need to stop moving staff into different positions after a few weeks.

For me we need a manager that's been there done that and unlike you be able to tell a novice CEO what is required for improvement of the club.

If it’s a choice between Trueman and Sellars or Hurst I’m going for who we have now.
Hurst is dour and failed everywhere but Shrewsbury and that was around 5 years ago? Don’t get the hype

Spoken like a true footballing dinosaur. Only people with a good footballing brain could have turned us around like we have just seen. They even have your m8 Clarkey playing out of his skin. You must be pleased about that.

These guys have polished Stuart's IPAD and turned a sows ear into a silk purse.

Now what do you mean by you want a manager has been there and done that?
    For instance Grayson? Hopkin? Bowyer?

I don’t get this how anyone could improve us after McCall was so bad. Well no it doesn’t work like that and history shows it doesn’t.
Collins was bad and no one could turn it around after despite a small reprieve for Hopkin we plummeted down the league. I think when he first come in he took time to get going.
Wetherall when he came in to try and keep us up he was awful and took us down.
When Parky came in anything would have been an improvement but he certainly didn’t win 3 on the spin.

I get some don’t want these two to get the job and I’m unsure but let’s not knock the job they have done this last few weeks

Someone mentioned on the post match commentary that sending Trueman and Sellars back to the U18s would be like asking Watt to go back and play 23's after playing 1st team football. If they are moved aside, the taste of being a first team management team might see us losing two talented prospects. The longer this decision takes the more I see them being given the job.

    Certainly not..

See the problem with Grayson, Hopkin and Bowyer is they had no playing style. No identity! The best manager we had in recent years in Parky had a playing identity. Some didn't like it and it had its day but it worked for a period.

I would be looking at a manager who has a style of that Ryan wants, a manager that has winning ways, a manager that can turn things around if required. Even is this manager is at another club then get him! If he believes it Hurst then its Hurst.

However, Ryan needs to make his own decisions and get his own network.

Got to say I would prefer the "playing style" of T&S over the style that Parky is renowned for.

3 wins out of 4 from a standing start is pretty impressive stuff wouldn't you agree?

    Not really.

    Where is Collins now?
Where are them blokes that managed Salford at the start now?

Trueman and Sellars will want to stay in football - Long Term! Timing is everything but they could knock on Sparks door, ask for pay raise and a pathway. Build the side they are in further.

Not everything is about 1st team football.

100% it is mate and I think we will beat Port Vale but it should change nothing.

Bradford City needs building. It's a bloody mess. To build it we need people in the right positions not moving everyone about all the time.

As a "business owner" your reluctance to allow talented people to be promoted within an organisation shows a real lack of leadership.

Collins never had half the success these lads have had.

If a decision was made 2 games ago and Hurst was appointed, then I don't think fans would have been too upset if they'd been moved back to their original roles. As fans we would be happy if the cleaner was in charge provided the points and performances are positive. The worrying thing is changing something that isn't broken at the moment. Had we lost today the decision to bring someone else in would have been easier, but they've done it again and outwitted a seasoned manager at the same time (and Holloway on Tuesday).

Bringing in a new guy brings no guarantees so what exactly are people wanting? A name for names sake or someone who knows the youth set up better than anyone else and could combine his knowledge of both roles for the future benefit of the club.

At Bradford City it happens to often which highlights poor recruitment in the correct positions or chances are made too late.

As I say Ryan needs to build his own network.

It's interesting looking at the betting markets this evening. As the final whistle blew on todays game Trueman was 4/1 and Hurst was 1/3. Looking at the odds now Hurst has drifted to 8/13, with Trueman as short as 6/5.

How can talented people be construed as poor recruitment?

I don't want a name for names sake however I fear Rupp thinks this is cheap option. In reality we need to strengthen both the first team coaching experience, fitness and recruitment and maintain momentum with the academy. None of this is cheap !
