Don’t know why some get varied away when a caretaker has a few results, rarely ends well long term. They’ve done well and if we stay up by 4 or less points deserve a nice bonus, back to the day job for them though I hope on Monday.

 

Agree totally. Once the honeymoon period is over they will struggle and we need experience. They have given us a real bonus and can’t knock the job they have done preparing the team last two games. We should thank them and provide them with a bonus as you say but that’s all.

I’m not saying for a second they should get the job, but scratching my head over the total dismissal of the caretaker role.......
I give you three examples of pretty successful caretakers from our past.
1) Terry Dolan
2) Chris Kamara
3) Paul Jewel

Derek Adams odds have shortened.

I would be chuffed with him, seems to have kept his managerial jobs for a good while.

 

Adkins knows about as much about League 2 as Holloway does and we could expect the same result

Life, work and particularly sport is about momentum. Adkins has none. I read up on his time after Southampton - it hasn't been that great. He's certainly not taken any teams to greater heights than expected

As for the two caretakers, they simply do not have either the prestige in having played the game at a decent level ((Jewell / Kamara) or experience of been at least been No.2 (Dolan/Jewell) at the relevant level or previously managed and done something good in the last three years at L1 or L2 level (Parkinson)

 

They're not what we need at the moment, particularly with the rebuild required coming up. Don't see any reason why we couldn't grrom them to take over in the coming years though, particuarly if the youth teams continue to do well and we get the scouting network set up properly in the meantime

 

I will wager that whoever is chosen will have had bad seasons. Parky failed at Hull before he came here. It’s hypothetical anyway because Adkins is beyond us unfortunately

 

Parky a great shout. Both you and I loved him from the start, because we knew that he'd had recent success with Colchester and didn't do a bad job at Charlton

That's my point, it has to be reasonably recent

 

He makes Steve Evans look as nice and calm as Roy Hodgson. We'd just be disliked by every club and no guarantee that he isn't any more than a one-trick / club pony

 

Got Plymouth promoted. Doing a brilliant job at Morecambe to have them into 6, one trick club pony is very harsh.

 

We should look to our history to gain presidents, so many times we fail to do so, not just as City fans but as Humans, if our past is too old for you, I’ll give you Ryan Lowe!
I think you will find that the bloke who so many on here think we should pay out a substantial fee to bag him, was caretaker at Bury twice before getting the job full time.
I’m not saying they should get it, but why are you so dismissive of them?
