    Dear Stuart,
I never thought l would have to write a letter like this. Furthermore it gives me absolutely no pleasure whatsoever. However for the sake of our football club, that we both support, your personal psychological well being, and your legacy as one of the greatest players ever for the club, then I think it is time for you to reflect upon the situation and to resign.
Sadly the club is in a poor state at the moment. The current group of players are not responding to your management and leadership. In fairness you have given a significant number of them contracts, yet despite this they are unable to react in a constructive manner.
I think a number of us, question some of the signings that you have made, and the decision not to seek a stronger squad or bolster the numbers. For whatever reason you have elected not to do so.
We hear explanations such as; lack of a crowd (which is the same as all clubs), injuries (which is the same as all clubs), Covid-19 (which is the same as all clubs), Salary Cap (which is the same as all clubs), Squad size limit (which is the same as all clubs), sorry but you and the club have to look in the mirror and be critical of the decisions you have made.
Things come and go out of fashion (the mullet hairstyle), people can no longer do what they use to do (get into 32 inch jeans), quite simply your tactics are not working.
The squad seems to lack leaders on the pitch and some of the individual choices players make, suggest that they have intellectually limitations, in thinking through football solutions. For whatever reason, your management is not working.
So please do the best thing for: the club, yourself, your family, the players, and we the supporters. Hand in your resignation. You will always be welcome at Valley Parade, with us the supporters. You are one of us and more so you are a legend. However the club needs a new manager, who can hopefully rescue the situation. As they say, ‘time to go’.
    Yours in great sadness.
    Big Rod

Anyone who agrees, please leave a like.

Anyone who doesn’t, then you are free to compose your own letter.

I would add that if there were any sort of crowd,if they were
of a mind to attend, they would be so vociferous watching this
absolute capitulation by players who either can't or don't want
to represent our well loved football club.

I would suggest ANY club in our league would currently look
forward to playing us and getting a guarenteed 3 points!

We are as bad as any City side I can ever remember in 63 years.

It is a very good letter and so much of what you say I can tell is heartfelt as well as logical. I am going to sleep on whether I agree or not but I have just listened to Stuarts interview on the radio and I held my head in my hands - it was hard to take a positive from, to believe he has the answers - and to be fair Jamie gave him a fairly easy ride today. But what really hit home was his impassioned plea that Clarke, Novac, Evans .... and yes Guthrie will make a massive difference. Yes they would have to our bench today, but to be honest these players have been part of the continuing downfall of our club and there is no logic or evidence to class them this way. He also said a centre back was not needed (when free agents were mentioned, and the Carlisle CB who scored today was mentioned) because 'we already have 5' - but totally oblivious that the ones we have are costing us the game in every single match.

My defence of Stuart is the players he works with are just not good enough, not strong enough (physically and mentally) and not fit enough - and there is the crux for me, could anyone get a tune out of them? But from supporting the club appointments last week, mainly because I do believe we need some continuity at the club and we just have a horribly poor squad, the question I didnt really want to happen is now unavoidable - is Stuart also being outmanaged in virtually every game we play.

Part of me is still saying we have to give Sparks and McCall (and whatever help they are bringing in) this January and I do honestly think we will see a serious response in this window - but tonight I am more torn than I have ever been on whether is finally time for Stuart to end his active role with City, and it bloody hurts because he is one of the reasons I love this club

    Harsh.

At the end of the day, Stuart was my favourite ever City player and probably the best the club ever produced.

However if you are under the age of 20 (and probably 25) you will have no recollection of this history.

Young supporters will only see the demise under his tenure.

    Time to go.

worryingly I can remember seeing him play at his peak for us.

But just have never seen the love-in for him as manager.

I honestly think he would have been a brilliant number 2 for someone else.

I like this @Bigrod@Bigrod .This is what I want from Bantam Talk now..Time for the forum to kick on.

Bantam Talk needs to be like a spirit of shankly group and others now to stamp key messages to the club because this club is a mess.

Stuart may be putting too much emphasis on injured
players coming back.I could see injuries lasting longer
because players won't want to be a part of the shambles
    that turns out for games.

Absolutely agree 100%. Stuart is the perfect number two. The players mate, the guy who they come to and moan. The go between. The joker. Just like Brian Kidd was.

He's not a manager. As a the man who fell off a car, I love him. I'd crawl bollock naked over broken glass for him. I'd sit all night with him in a pub and buy his beers, listen to every word.

As a manager, as manager of my club, I'm starting to despise him. He's stubborn, he can't tell a player from a donkey, he has no idea about league two tactics, and he's actually full of shit in his interviews.

There are two Stuart mccalls in my life, and the second one is a massive waste of space.

Thats just it - I dont know if any of the players we currently have really have the heart for a fight - let alone the ability to do anything about the shambles of a position we are in

    That is so right.

Inhave had the pleasure of sitting in the pub and drinking with him after the Sheffield Utd wembley semi final. Him and his wife(?) I only chatted a bit and then left them to a quiet few drinks. Amusingly later his mother/mother in law rang looking for them as they hadn’t got home, I pointed her in the direction of the next pub they were going to

One other thing that hit me Keefly is there has been absolutely no 'positive bounce' effect from the appointments last week - looks like its because in practise there was NO change to what has been going on.

I really hoped the clarification of positions would have some positive impact - but sadly there has been nothing

the age old question though....who is going to take over his job? We pay peanuts, we're on our way down the league instead of up, our players are absolutely awful, there's no structure at the club in terms of staff, our CEO is green behind the ears, and the owner doesn't give a flying one.

Not gonna be easy is it?

Football is absolutely littered with our of work managers who would jump at the chance an 99% would do a better job. Without even thinking there's Simon Grayson, (wouldn't have been relegated if he had stayed) Nigel Adkins, Graham Alexander, Parky (love him but don't want him back to preserve his status as a legend), the cowley, Gary monk.

    Sorry to be picky but...

Not good enough? - he gave several of them contracts

Not fit enough? - he's the manager, be vocal about needing fitness people/conditioners/training requirements

He needs to stand up and say "I need x and y and z". If he doesn't then I assume he's happy with what he has and whatever the results are, are down to his decisions, which at the moment look poor.

If he stands and says he needs x and y and z then I'd support him and call out the management/owners but the problem is he gives the impression he's happy with the squad, training, coaching, fitness, pitch, anything so that only leaves one problem - HIM AND HIS COACHING/MANAGEMENT!
