Lets be absolutely clear

I've assumed we weren't trying for promotion for some time. Everything coming out of the club suggests this is the strategy. The problem with it is that there is an increasing possibility that we might actually go out of the league which isn't in the strategy at all, I would assume.

 

I think you are one of a select few who actually get what's going on. It's like treading water but that carries the risk of drowning, i.e. slipping out of the league.

 

Pre season everyone knew how dodgy that defence was. Apologists went to Bowyers early season form to suggest it wasn't that bad, come his sacking we were shipping goals for fun, some games we looked likely to concede 7 or 8 and worryingly thats what i witnessed today, no surprises considering its still pretty much the same defence. Up front the only likely source of goals was from tantrum king James Vaughan. A right decision to let him go but we were pretty much promised a replacement. Which unduly never came.

So we can't defend and can't score. And yet those fundamental problems have been staring us in the face and nothing was done about it yet we went out and signed Gareth Evans, a good player at this level, but cannot play any position where we are truly desperate. Its stuff like this that has the club sat in 19th and fans turning more and more against the club.

Make no bones about, this club isn't good enough not to go down as it stands, i'm just hoping the club realise this before its too late.

 

I was a bit tongue in cheek Biker - but yes deep down we all are fed up with what is going on at present. I am honestly glad football has been able to return, cos this site was dead without it! But until there is a reboot of our club I am afraid nothing is going to change, so we will get glimmers of hope followed by desperately bad shows (like today)

It is getting tougher to argue in favour of Stuart but, as I say, NO ONE is going to be a success at City until a more positive and professional infrastructure is in place - and we have an owner who genuinely has an interest in the club and is prepared to back it because he/she/they want to be successful. We are currently afloat on an iceberg and there is no way off it

 

There's the potential to indulge in a deep analysis of and speculation about what precisely the positions of Rupp, Rhodes and the club in general are at this time, but that would take up an awful lot of time and space and this might not be the best place for it.

The thing is we still sold 9000 season tickets, whilst yes that isnt going to touch overheads it still brought in far more income than guess 90% of the league would have had coming in.

Promotion would yes have brought extra costs but these would have been next year when tv monies and ticket income would have been greater than this year.

 

The clever teams take advantage of the situation, not constantly berate its supposed down sides. Promotion in a weakened season would see you in league 1 when everything goes back to normal next season.

 

Julian Rhodes has said that promotion isn't the aim this season. I'm not really sure why, when there's no ambition from within, anyone is surprised at the poor end results.

The sad thing is you’ve been right all along, and most of us agree, Stuart isn’t very good at being a manager, however he’s an absolute legend and loyal servant to the club.
So whilst I agree with the sentiment, I do wish you’d wind your neck in and stop the total vitriol and hatred to Bradfords fav ginger god (As a player and genuine good bloke)
It’s like you relish a defeat just so you can put the boot in, your always conspicuous by your absence when we win (ok that’s not very often!)

 

Oh and bringing up the fire makes you a total C**t!
