About time we had half decent dugouts, they've been an embarrassment for years. Fair play to Sparks for getting shit done.

Is it? In what way? No one has been offensive and as far as I can tell it's a reasoned debate and only slightly off topic.

If you don't want to read it that's fine, just don't click on it but to refer to it as kindergarten stuff and demanding threads be locked simply on your opinion is baffling.

That's fine. I honestly didn't believe there was a sensible answer anyone could have given anyway.

As the author of the comment in question let me clarify. I was answering Bigrod who had stated that the colours on the chart named Gold and Fire were the ones that in his opinion most closely resembled his conception of amber. I agreed and said that I preferred Fire. It was as simple as that.
To suggest that this was in any way insensitive is ridiculous, but sadly in keeping with a modern trend to find a reason to be outraged by any innocent comment.

I apologise for suggesting your post was insensitive-having now read the response to Bigrod, I had just read your response in isolation. As you say an innocent comment. I wasn't outraged, just found that sentence in isolation a bit odd.
You refer to a modern trend to find a reason to be outraged well some responses to my comment have been quite outrageous including name calling and an accusation of "faux outrage" and a post has also been deleted as it was deemed offensive.
I was even accused of trying to start "a pile on" towards you.

No need to apologise, but perhaps it would be best to read the context of a comment in future.

Of the colours in Rod's chart, I too think that "Gold" and "Fire" are the closest to what I'd think of as amber. Their "Amber" seems to me a touch too yellow!

As for the other point that has arisen:

    1) For obvious reasons we do need to be careful about using fire words and imagery in connexion with City;
    2) But in the broader world, though we might die from fire we certainly cannot live without it.
    3) No wonder that fire imagery is deeply ingrained in our patterns of thought and speech, in both good and bad senses. We use it automatically. Think of our language of love for example, or even how we are aflame with enthusiasm for something...
    4) But using that imagery in our context is, to put it mildly, problematic. Just imagine some enthusiastic reporter writing that City were on fire as they torched Tonbridge 7-0, language which for any other club wouldn't raise an eyebrow. But with us, especially if the match had been at VP... I would hope an editor would make some changes. Similarly, should the question ever arise, I wouldn't be comfortable with the name "Fire" for a colour used at VP. No fault of the company's; it's just our circumstances are different.

Overall, I'd like to see us save our criticisms for genuinely malicious or supremely insensitive uses of fire words and imagery in connexion with City. This, in my opinion, is not such a case.

One of the things that has struck me, is what I feel is poor communication from the club. There is nothing on the official website, about the players tunnel and I cannot recall an article in the T&A, or it being mentioned in a WOAP article.

Whatever the merits of the player tunnel and the colour of the new seats, the fact that there are improvements taking place, is to be applauded.

I think most of us feel that new dugouts are necessary.

@wetherbywhaler@wetherbywhaler referred to the excellent condition of the pitch, again something I agree about.

For goodness sake, why can’t the club send out press releases, use its own website?

Just waiting for news about dramatic improvements to the toilets, especially in the lower blocks of the Main Stand!

It was mentioned at the very bottom of an article announcing the sponsorship with that blind company. But yes I agree, no mention of it since and no mention at all of the dugouts. Not even a brief artist sketch to show what all of this might look like. Considering none of us can actually go down to VP to look anytime soon, small things like that would be appreciated. Think there was a line by Parker saying the tunnel will be done for the Oldham game and @Idlebantam@Idlebantam mentioned on here when the dugouts will be done - nothing from the club on either. And then some wonder why there's no praise going the clubs way. Well, we can't praise what we know nothing/little about.

The club are being pig headed about communication at the moment and seem hell bent on driving a bigger wedge between us the fans and the club. Various social media sites including Bantam Talk, WOAP, Twitter, Facebook have fans expressing concern at the lack of information coming from within. As you say no updates on the tunnel, progress on the search for a CEO, the owners intentions, aims for this season on the pitch. We're approaching Christmas and the talk will soon turn to season ticket prices for 21/22. They better start talking soon if the want to have any chance of enticing fans to renew. One thing for sure, if they don't then Rupp's going to have to dig deeper to cover the shortfall. It could also be too little too late...

Idlebantam was incorrect. Why start work on 2nd December when we have a game on 5th and the work would be incomplete running a huge risk of trouble with the EFL.
I'm sure dates will be given when they are finalised once delivery dates for key components are finalised, I.e. the seats. No point giving information which may have to be corrected, like I am with Idle, imagine the flak on here if that happened.

They don't seem to mind giving season ticket deadlines to fans only then to "correct" it once they feel its financially worthwhile. Let's be fair, no one is suggesting the club would be hugely criticised if the dug outs were delayed or not completed on time. Although that also might be because in the main, just like the tunnel, most supporters haven't even got a clue that it's happening.

All we're asking for is a little communication to help us feel less disconnected to the club. Especially given the difficult circumstances at present and especially if its positive work by the club such as the ground improvements mentioned above.

After all, don't we employ a director of communications? And if that is the role perhaps better communicating could help to start rebuild the fragile confidence a lot of fans have with the board right now. If so then that can only be viewed as a positive given that we'll soon be thinking about advertising ST renewals.

80A5C088-7C31-4D40-BEEC-62AC1581C429.jpeg Cant we do away with the claret executive seats and blend them in with the rest of the block it just looks odd . Wonder what shade the claret will be . The non faded ones behind the dugout look alright next to the new amber . Guessing there waiting till the dugouts are done to carry on

Good photo. I forgot that they had replaced seats at the front of D and F block. Also the whole of A Block for the cup games. I get that a lot of the old seats had faded, but B block looks totally at odds with the new seats in A,D & F blocks. Are the club going to rip those out, or are we going to have an increasingly patchwork of ‘Amber”?

B block is the new seats recently installed so am guessing they will carry on all the way round replacing what is currently faded amber

Sunderland replaced all the seats not too long back and it really give the place a new lease of life . Valley parade should also look so much better . I hope the club use the opportunity to do away with some of the rushed seats and writing at the same time .Sunderland got the fans to do the seat swaps during the week a shame that in the current climate that wouldn’t be possible at valley parade
