    Greetings! Talking of goal machines, Malcolm Macdonald started with us [Tonbridge] as a flabby 16-year-old. Because he had a big kick, he was increasingly sent up front to “have a go” if we were coasting or desperate. Our manager at the time was a Mancunian, Harry Haslam, now remembered mostly for his later exploits as manager of Sheffield United (such as scouting out Diego Maradona in Argentina but failing to sign him, and emptying a bucket of water over an abusive fan). We have a tradition of former players going on to make a name for themselves as managers, notably Ron Saunders, Roy Hodgson and Vic Akers. The last-named won just about everything going for Arsenal Women.

    The prize money has been revised so that, instead of the winning club getting 100% of the prize money in the 1st and 2nd rounds, the winning club will now get 75% and the losing club 25%.

    What this means for City:
    If we lose in the 1st round we now get £5,657 instead of nothing.
    If we win the 1st round, but lose in the 2nd round, we now get £25,472 instead of £22,629.
    If we win in the 1st & 2nd rounds, but lose in the 3rd round, we now get £42,472 instead of £56,629.

    The prize money will be useful but nothing compared to not having fans in the ground all season. The monthly outgoing will still be to find as well as the ground rent so I suspect the car mags will be put back in the magazine rack.

    I am hoping we give you a good game. This has got 1-0 to the Angels all over it.

    By the way 'big club'is a myth. We have wallowed in the bottom 2 divisions of the football league most of the 55 years I have been watching the Bantams
