New CEO?

Generally speaking I trust Parker, but it comes across as a pretty weak lie from the club / Parker. I do not at all buy the idea that Rhodes the other day just decided to give Huw a call about a McBurnie deal that may / may not have happened under his tenure and was now quite a long time ago.

Not that I have any problem with that whatsoever - the club should absolutely not be confirming that we are in any discussions with anyone until a deal is done. We are probably in discussions but by the nature of these deals they could fall apart at any moment. I guess we will find out more over the coming weeks / months.

 

Ryan did say in the fans forum that we were talking with someone though and Rhodes was close to leaving.

 

I never said I didn’t want it just saying Parker said “ it was wide of the Mark” which seems clear however it’s spun

 

I think , like always we are all dreaming of that sugar daddy owner that will hopefully see us reach are full potential.
Although no gimmes in football. A city this side should have a mid table championship team that is established.
Lack of investment and poor leadership , have always managed to rear its ugly head and keep us back, although that can be said for the city as a whole.
Its anyones guess if there is truth to this story, we do know that they are trying to appoint a new ceo, maybe said guy also fancies owning the club.
Lets hope if the club does change hands again , we get a rocket to shoot us up the leagues and not our usual damp squibs.

 

Third "Jenkins is interested" club in six months after Charlton and Wigan that Nixon has tweeted out. Also Nixon did a piece in Feb 2019, just 2 weeks after Jenkins resigned as chairman, saying Jenkins was buying Swansea back after meetings with a wealthy Arab group. Obliviously never happened. Think this is more Jenkins has a friend in Nixon who will send out public stories for him, to either judge public interest to try help speed along talks or put the feelers out there for potential backers/investers to join him.

Think in our case it's probably a bit of the two combined, hoping City see the fan response and it might help him with some backing and give Rhodes/Rupp a nudge towards having talks. He's been living in London since 2013, clearly wants to be a more involved owner than Rupp would. If it's Jenkins pre 2014 then brilliant, very experienced owner who left his managers to it, looks for bosses to play a certain way and found some good talent. After Laudrup was sacked and he turned to hiring head coaches and then got involved in all transfer and on the pitch activities, no thank you. Went through 6 HCs and 1 caretaker to finish last 8 games of a season in 4 and a bit seasons. Every season had a decline, wasting millions of pounds on trash players every year, until they went down. When they went down that changed and Potter was their first 'manager' since Laudrup and did it his way. Hopefully Jenkins has learnt not to do that again and leaves it to a backroom outfit at his next place.

 

The story was he was coming as CEO not owner that would still be Rupp until a buyer was found

 

Yeah but it's seems fairly clear he wont come in as CEO unless he can own it at some stage. This is a man who clearly wants it made public that he wants to own and run a football club again. Cant see a man who lives at the end other end of the country coming in just to take over Rhdoes interim CEO role without him trying to get enough money in buy at the same time.

 

I find it hard to believe (well I find anything hard to believe right now) that we could lure someone of Jenkins calibre in as a paid CEO.
Can’t imagine we would be able to pay a wage for that role that would bring him up from Swansea if I’m honest, and I certainly can’t see him taking that role without being able to demand and oversee changes that we would fund.
If, and a big if, there’s any truth in this, I can’t see it being as CEO only without some longer term plan of taking full hands on control.

 

If Jenkins does come in I can see it being as CEO only to start with, then he might buy a stake, and eventually a full buy-out of Rupp. I doubt it will be for all the marbles initially. If he does come in as CEO I wonder if he'll appoint those guys who are listed on the board of his Prescience FC company to DoF type roles as well?

 

Well unless hes willing to pay £10million then hes wasting his time apparently.

 

File this story in the same bin as all the Ken Morrison rumours in the 90s and early 2000s.

 

I contacted Mark Lawn this morning to see whether he had heard anything about the Jenkins rumour. He had not heard a thing, although he has not been in touch with JR for a while now.

We shall see I suppose. Either no legs in rumour or all involved at City playing their cards very close to their chest

 

I get it if we want to keep it hush hush. Its not everyday someone with Jenkins' CV is interested in a 4th division club. Its a big opportunity and one which I hope we're deliberately keeping quiet in case of his head being turned.

 

Whispers that it's fallen through, ashame if it has.

 

If the opportunity was there and its true that its fallen through then the only thing to blame is the ineptitude and amateurism of this club, fecking shambles. Sooner Rhodes gets out the sooner we can move forward with ambition

 

In five years time we’ll be posting “ Who do you think will be our new manager”? Then the headline will be “Rhodes turns to McCall again”.
Nothing changes at our club and there will be no rich consortium buying us.

 

I'd we've genuinely turned down/cocked up the opportunity to have someone with Jenkins' track record on board then we want sectioning.

Farcical situation.

 

Because if he reported anything other than the Official Line he could be in hot water and why would he report otherwise?, there are enough fantasy lines on here as it is.

 

Who’s whispered that or is it has Parker has said totally wide of the mark. The trouble as is already happening people go off on one believing we have lost an opportunity and there probably nothing in it

 

Should’ve known better. This club has no real desire to embrace ambition or forward thinking.
