Yep, cant disagree and if you look at the L2 table at least half of the teams are former non-league clubs or clubs that have spent some time non-league like Grimsby/Newport/Cambridge/Mansfield.
In this league if your owners back you, you can go a long way- see Lincoln/Accrington.

 

finish the game with 11 men and perform like that and it's a really poor show.. finish the game like that with 10 men and you should really do enough to see the game out but finish with 9 men and you can say we were unfortunate.

however.. both goals are poor to concede. the wall should do it's job for the first and Staunton should clear his lines for the second. in terms of the red cards; AO'C should have dealt with the first ball and for the second PO'C should be nowhere near that incident and gave the ref a decision to make. ill discipline and poor concentration for both the O'Connors in those situations.

when looking at the match as a whole - the performance was poor overall. like the first few games, we created little and had no control of the game. our shape led to square pegs in round holes and playing two centre-half at full-back reduced our width and ability to get balls into the box for the forwards. it's no good having one of the better deliverers of a ball from wide in the league playing a CDM role - players at this level need to play in their natural positions or they are quite clearly like ducks out of water.

our ball retention was poor and we were too easy to play through. FGR, for how poor they were going forward always looked like they could trouble us on the break whereas our tactics seemed to be to stick it in the corner, turn their defence and play from there; hence one shot in the first. we very rarely troubled them and in all honesty both of our goals were poor to concede from a defensive point of view. apart from those two and the PO'C header in the first half, we never troubled the goalkeeper.

a lot still to be improved on if we want to do anything this season. depth to the squad is clearly a necessity - let's see what the iPad throws up the week.

2-0 I think. The scoreline masks over what was a very poor performance from both sides. If they hadn't missed a penalty and their keeper been badly at fault for both goals we wouldn't have scored. We go with a line up that sees 5 players out of position and then wonder why we look disjointed. 9 men defending because your two centre backs get sent off but thankfully against a piss poor side is nothing to write home about. There's no shape to the side at all, we had one in the first few games and McCall goes full tinker because of Tuesday. Could be a long season this.

 

True, you could have a case where those coming up have bigger budgets than the biggest in the league which is just stupid. The cap will only succeed in making a poor quality league even worse. They’ll be teams worse than what we saw today.

Are we seriously saying with our backs to the wall with 10 men for 30 minutes then down to 9 men for 20 minutes you don't think any credit is due, not sure it's blind faith, just the game as I and other saw it, I'll repeat if Staunton had not made his mistake we could have had all 3 points, I think that's fair comment ?.
